Barely noticable in my opinion. I do like the fact that the 50 pounds of useless metal is now gone, but the sound is barely louder and I doubt there's much performance to be gained. Having said that, I'll take even the smallest bits.
Here's an almost useless pic. Hard to get a good view with 3" of clearance

how much did that run you to replace the tranny?
i hear you. just worried about having to spend an amount equal to 50% of the car's value to get a new tranny down the road. but, i have replaced the trans fluid and filter at 65000, and i am not experiencing any problems. plus, i still have starmark extended warr until this august.

New or rebuilt - I would like to know who rebuilt it too....would be good to know for the rest of us, I have been leery of this trans since I bought the car. No problems yet, but you never know.

a reman tranny w/ a 3yr unlimited mile warrenty and a new control unit ran about 3500 bux plus about 5-6 hrs of labor. this company actually sends out a flushing machine too, you must use it to not void the warrenty. the tranny shop only does reman BMW, Benz, and Porsche trannies.
off the top of my head i don't recollect the name of the place, but i'll let you all know.....
i called the guy saying thanks after i put it in to thank him, he tells me to go do burn outs/ power launchs..... lol

I think it goes beyond the service intervals. These things self-destruct in many cases well before any service would have occurred. Mine was in the shop at 50-something thousand miles via the prior owner while under Starmark. I wonder what the guys who rebuild them do that makes them any better than before. Would be nice to be able to hammer the thing without worrying about it.

2004 E55 AMG Silver/Black - stock (at the moment)
Great buy!! Congratulations!!
To each his own - I loved the debadged look. I did the same on my C36, debadge and dechromed.
Enjoy in good health!

I ordered the C43, AMG emblems and clear corners from formymercedes.com. My old ones cracked when I took them off. I always hated emblems but it fits this car. Thanks for the comments. This spring I will lower it another .5"f and 1.0"r and find a set of 18/8.5f 18/10r AME Shallen LX's in diamond cut. On the fence about black grill and taking the lip off.
