Nice hp gain for C43's exhaust mod
Guys I can't recommend this mod enuff. (installed Sat 12/30)
I have replaced my secondary cats and I'm using TWO 100cell cats in place of them. They measure 2.5" each. I then purchased a magna flow y pipe off of ebay( 2.5" inlets and 3" single outlet:http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eB...m=170052165195
When I tried to get this piece from reg retailers they all said that it was on back order. I got this original magnaflow piece for a very good price from these guys. 2.5" inlets,3" outlet.
OKay then I had my fabricator install a 3" stainless steel polished Vibrant resonator to SS 304 3"piping to the rear just behind the rear subframe where it attaches to the stck 2.75 inch SS piping going to the stck AMG muffler. Basically I'm only using 12" inches of the stck 2.75'' AMG piping which is connected to the muffler. I'll post pics later.
Anyway the car is a completely different animal! I swear.
I dynoed the car after on a dyno dynamics dyno.309whp This # seems low but on a dynojet the # would be much much higher. Higher than the one posted in my sig which was done on a dynojet.
Guys take it from me you will appreciate this mod as it seems like the thing holding back our M113 powered cars is certainly our exhaust especially pre secondary cats. This motor loves 2.5" piping and a lil bigger(3.0")
The butt dyno will certainly reveal a nice difference from down low to uptop. The car is a whole lot more responsive and powerful. I'll answer any ?? So post away!
This mod is worth it's weight in gold. Don't wanna go thru custom fab then get the SS reso and change the secondary cats to 200cell or less. PTE (CLK55) was not lying. I love the cars pwr even more so. I think it's a high 12 sec car now but thetrack will be the tru witness.

Definitly get some pictures up.
How come you used 100cel cats instead of straight pipe? Is it because you will retain the secondary once your(our) headers are fabed up without the primarys?
...lastly, why the resonator also? no straight pipe like many others??

Getting rid of the primaries Nitro! Wanna stay at least partially smog legal hence I put on high flow cats. I added the high flow res because I don't want my car to sound like a mustang.

My precats won't be removed until the headers are built. They will eliminate the primary cats. I also installed secondary high flow cats(expensive) to replace the stck 400cell cats. Brand name is Metal Cat. you can probably get some high flow cats thru Borla,Magnaflow,or dynomax. pm PTE for info on where he purchased the high flow 100 cell cats for his CLK55.

Exhaust
Not to get off topic....but you said someone could think about using the Supersprint res. Has anyone combined the SS res with the SS exhaust? Or has anyone thought of doing that along with replacing the cats? Has anyone heard r do you have a sound clip of the SS res. with the SS exhaust? I was just curious if swapping out the rear section of the exhaust would help further. Im new to modding MBs, so I was just wondering.

Another config is to go with dual 2.5" 100 cel cats to a 2.5" x pipe and go dual 2.5" all the way back to a big dual 2.5" inlet single outlet muffler like Speedy Benz did.

sorry,I cannot tell you the gain because I dynoed on two different types of dyno's.
When I add the headers ,I'll be able to tell you what gains when I go to the same dyno where I took a base run with the exhaust installed. Stay tuned, waiting for Uncle Sam.
