hey guys. just out of curiosity, how many miles do you have on your C43, and at what mileage did you change your tranny fluid?

i have 75000 miles, and had it first changed at about 70000.

I bought mine with 83K on it a few weeks ago and immediately had the tranmission fluid, filter and gasket changed. First time it had ever been done and thankfully there were no metal filings in the sump! Fingers crossed all will be well!

that's great to hear! did the previous owner rebuild the tranny? if not, it is very encouraging to hear at least one member here with 145k miles and no tranny issues!!!

no history on the car before i owned it.
did a ppi before purchase and got a clean bill of health. apparently the previous owner had the car serviced by the book. including the tranny.
have not spent a dime except for service and wear items.
great daily driver. still brings a grin tho my mug every time i get behind the wheel.

Tranbny and Mileage Survey
Let me add to midasmike's experience...

My 99 C43 has 167K miles and no issues with the tranny to date. I acquired the car with 47K miles, and have flushed the trans every 60K miles. Take care of it, don't beat it up with overly aggressive driving, and it will go the distance.

my C43 used to belong to a 70yr old man i got it at about 63k miles put a trans in it 4 mos later w/ 65k miles.

they are time bombs!

when i used to wrench i'd changed them out regularly.... even the ones that were lady driven, most 99 mercedes have junk trannies in them.

That's a pretty good price for a rebuild. That's actually the wholesale price. Do you have the info on the place shop that had it?
