Engine Management

I've been trying to figure out which Bosch engine management system is used in my '99 C43. I assume it is some variant of the Motronic system....is this correct? Thanks

Haha...don't all answer at once Anyways, I did some more research, and if anyone cares it is the Bosch Motronic ME2.0 system. Still having trouble locating details on this system.....anything past basic Motronic 1.0 and the K-Jet, and LH systems seems to relatively uncovered on the www

I'd love to know more about it. It irks me to pay hundreds of dollars to someone to do a reflash. I'd rather write my own program on the dyno.

yep....I know its not THAT complicated....I mean, K-Jet is a joke in terms of complexity, so I can't imagine that (even w/ digital stuff) it got too down in the weeds in the following 5 years

I would imagine that for the most part, the digital stuff is easier to tune. The main thing is just getting the right program and connectors. Two or three years ago, you had to pay at least $200 to get a custom EPROM chip for a turbo Eclipse. Eventually the code went public and you can write your own custom chips for pennies. Its always tough being the first though.

yeah, there probably just isnt the market.....w/ a few notable exceptions (most of whom are on this or other boards), MB owners aren't really the DIY types......and it really seems like a lot of people are scared away by modern electronic engine control systems and seriously just plain old fuel injection.

I am really interested to know more about this as well. For the price of some of these chips you can just go the route of DTA or Haltech or another standalone system and program whatever the hell the you want.

Are you familiar with what software and connectors are needed? Can the stock maps be pulled from the ECU or can you obtain stock maps through another source?

Yes, I too am interested. Can the rpm limit be raised and can the Trans ECU be modified to accept a different rear Gear Ratio say something like a 3.75 or similar and still give good shift points such.
