What are your real-world 0-60 times for your C36?
My 1995 C36, even when it was new, cannot break the 7.0 second mark going from stand-still to 100 kph (0-62 mph). I saw in a scanned article from Car & Driver and Road and Track in another forum that the 0-60 time that they got is 6.0 seconds. The figure quoted in my AMG Owner's manual is 6.7 seconds.
I tried many times to accurately determine my 0-100 performance using my phone's stopwatch but the best I could do was 7.2 secs when the engine was cold and around 7.8 when warm. My car does not have ASR and is bone-stock. My fuel is 96 RON but I use additives to increase it approx 98 RON as required by AMG.
I was wondering if my fellow C36 owners have tried to record their own 0-100 times. Does anyone know how these magazines staff conduct their tests? I start FROM IDLE and just push the pedal down at the same time as I press the START button on my stopwatch. Maybe they brake-torque their samples? i.e. rev the engine while holding the car with the brakes then let go at START.
My car hits the 250 kph speed limiter quite easily so I don't think I'm down on power but even my SLK 320 can beat the C36 in a stoplight shootout.

heat sucks. ran only around 15 at sears pt on those wed night drags, and roughly 96 mph. wayy too hot there, close to 100. and parking on that concrete where the internal temp read 100+ didn't help.

My car's mileage is 54500 kms and is in top tune except for a recent mild flat spot at 3200-3600. I have attended to the usual suspects, i.e. MAS, wiring harness, coil pack etc etc. My measured times of 7.2-7.8 secs was when there was no hesitation yet
Do the magazines brake-torque their test mules to get those amazing numbers?
Jon, mid-5's is amazing! Do you brake-torque it or just launch it off idle? When I sit in traffic my temps rise to more than 100C and the acceleration really goes away...

I take off from idle with ASR off. If you have a flat spot in any part of the rpms you have a problem. It should be smooth through out the rpms. Did you replace the wiring harness yet?

Wiring harness, MAF sensor, coilpacks, plugs, fuel filter and all the usual suspects had been replaced already. When I was doing those 0-100 runs a few years ago there was no hesitation yet. This 3200-3600 rpm flat spot is a recent malady.
BTW sorry but what is a Beltimer? I timed my runs manually, trying to sync my pedal push with the start button on my phone's stopwatch function.

Bong,
Do you have traction control? If you do, have you tried turning it off
when doing your 0-60 run? (or in your case 0-100)
The reason I asked is because the flat spot you mentioned seems to be
inherently the same as what happens to my E55 when I try to pick up
speed rather quickly (flooring it from a dig). My solution is to simply
turn off the ESP and it goes away.

i don't think the 95 came with esp. if anything, just a simple asr which utilizes the brake system (right? i think...

No, my car didn't even come with an ASR. This flat spot is a fairly recent incarnation of the devils that seems to bedevil MB's.
