What is a C18
I am new to this site. Pardon me if this is a stupid question.
Someone offered to sell me a 1998 W202 C18...and claims that it has 195hp, with manual transmission. I know C36, C43 and C55 but what is a C18?
Thanks.
:p
I have never heard of a C18, but the C280 is about 195 hp stock. Maybe this person re-badged the car as a C18? How much is this person asking? One thing you could do is get the vin number and run a check on it. You'll be able to tell what engine is in it. You could get a C36/C43 in the 25K-35K range, maybe even cheaper if you really look.
Good luck, and tell us what you find out.
Regards,
DLS
yeah, i'm wondering what the heck is a c18 too.
hahahahaha...sorry, i just thought it's funny to badge the car like that.
it's either a 1998 C280 with messed up badge, or a C180 ( i forgot which year MB had sold the car)
But I found out more:
Yes, it was a C180 until Lorinser put a 1.8 turbo engine in it, delivering 195hp at 5500rpm and 275NM at 4000rpm - not great but sounds much more interesting than a stock C180.
So I guess he just calls it a C18 from then...
Curiosity satisfied.
I thought it was a C180 having a badge problem, too.
