Transmission oil for 95 C36

Happy New Year!

I've searched but no luck...any references would be great!

Planning on having the local shop do do the transmission oil change very soon...the shop says the non-synthetic oil is good enough, but I could also use the Mercedes synthetic transmission oil.

As far as the transmission oil for the 4-speed C36...what do you guys recommend (brand and specific grade/weight) and what's your experience with it? I'm leaning towards the MB synthetic oil, but are there more than one grade? Thanks

The transmission oil from Autohauz is item #: 001989210310

http://www.autohausaz.com/search/pro...ids/Treatments

"Lifetime Synthetic Transmission Fluid; For Mercedes models with 722.6XX electronic 5-speed automatic transmissions, NOT for latest model 7-speed 722.9xx automatic, please verify type of transmission"

Those don't appear to be the ones for the C36...

Thanks again for any and all inputs

Mmm, i don't know if c43 is same, but i've put ELF transmission oil in mine...actually i use ELF oil for engine, oil grease for wiper motor etc. and elf oil for transmission. best i've heard . i changed mine twice every 48 000km, so color stays bright red/pink..or else still dirt inside and it's bad.

722.4

used dexron 3 ,no need for the mb syn.so any good dex3 clone is fine.

There are a lot of options for a dex III synthetic. AMSOIL, Mobil 1, Red Line for example. And yes, drain the converter.

Thanks for all your suggestions!

I'll look into some of those dexron 3 stuff

Is draining the converter gonna require more time than 'the usual' transmission oil change? Does draining the converter = transmission flush?confused:: My mechanic friend says he can do the transmission oil change, but probably not the flush.

the converter drain is part of the service, there`s a drain plug in the converter,
just turn the eng until you can see the drain plug through the access hole in the trans housing

Just

drain the pan and converter and replace the filter and fluid. Most mb trans you should avoid a flush service so your indie is on track.

If you car has a 4 speed transmission, it’s a 722.3XX , I would use and recommend ATF Synthetic AMSOIL, that’s the fluid I use in all my non electronic transmissions I rebuild.

Royal Purple Max ATF is the best tranny oil money can buy, far better than amsoil or redline (i've tried both), mobile 1 is over rated not that good. Go with royal purple, you won't be happier
