Which Shocks To Use For COMFORT?
The shocks the previous owner installed are moroes something. I like to get some that will be better than these. I want the shocks to absorve the bumps the best possible. i have no clue what king os springs he added but the car is nice and lowered. i want a nice SOFT ride. any suggestions???

Thanks. I'm just asking for suggestions on a shock that will give the softest ride. If I wanted a lincoln I would have bought one. I just want a better ride than the monroes I have now. I like the power of the c43 and could care less about firm suspension, I dont drive it hard. Why you had to add "buy a lincoln" is beyond me, be nice man.

Not many options as far as shocks goes...do you have OE or aftermarket springs? Bilsteins are pretty reputable...I have the Bilstein Sports with H&R's and they ride pretty nicely while at the same time responds quite will...but probably not the set up you are looking for. Try tirerack and ebay.

Any way to tell what kind of springs I have? I don't think they are stock because the car is low. I know the stock ones have like 3 inches or so gap between tires and wheel well.Mine had like an inch. I just want the car to take the bumps better nothing else. I would hate to change springs just for that.
I believe I have moroes SENSA-TRAC shock, are these any good?

sounds like airplane
you won't notice a difference with the shocks unless yours are worn out (at least not one worth the $ difference) in my opinion
if your car is lowered and not with eibach you can likely gain a much softer/comfortable ride by switching to their springs.

That would be too soft I believe. When I first drove my car, it felt extremely stiff even it is original shocks. But there is a reason for that I believe. It is the AMG vehicle, it is powerful, and fast, whatever AMG engineers decided to put in there, they must have done enough research.
I understand about the Lincoln joke, but I believe stock C Class shocks might be very soft for this preformance vehicle....

there needs to be a smily for sarcasm
anyway, rode a different car setup with monroes and they were pretty harsh and horrible.
swap those out for the oem shocks. it seems to be ok for the c36. read somewhere that c43 shocks are stiffer, anyone know?
anyway, stock springs are usually softer than aftermarket, so if u want to keep the lowered look, u can go for the stock springs with thinner pads.
if u don't mind getting big fender/wheel gaps, try the thickest pads. that'll isolate the road even more. i know my c36 looks like it's on stilts and actually sat higher than a friend's c280 on 17" monoblocs due to the pads.

Thanks for all the replies everyone. im going to try swappping the monroes with one of the ones mentioned here. i just have to do some research on each shock. i think whichever shock i go with that it will be MUCH better than these monroes.

My last Lincoln - a '95 4.6L with electronic adjustable ride control had a similar ride/comfort level when it was on the 'Firm' setting, whereas when on the 'Plush' setting, it was the typical Lincoln 'isolate the road' ride, that at times I miss - especially on rough roads.
I'll soon be installing the Eibach Pro-Kit Spring Set that I recently purchased for the C43, so I'll have a new experience soon.

please post the results/experience with this setup. Will the shocks also be eibach? if you dont mind me asking, how much for the setup? if ur able try to take some pics after they are installed while the cat is on the air.
I can't speak for the C36, but I do know that my 100k mile '99 C43 has no discernible difference in ride/comfort level as my 37k mile '99 C280 Sport. (Of course, both have different shocks than the non-Sport/AMG models.)

i recently installed H&R sport springs and the ride went soft on me from what i was working with, so i changed out to bilstein sport shocks and that didn't change the feel what-so-ever, i think the H&R springs w/ a tall pad will suit you the best, and either keep the stock AMG shocks or get bilstein HD which is pretty much the same, the main reason i lowered it was for asthetics and i did acomplish the look i was going for, however i am dissapointed in the mushy ness
thas w/ the the #3 pad up front and #4 in the rear. if you are not too hot on lowering your car you may want to put #5 in the back and a #4 in the rear, our cars come w/ #2 all the way around, i just didn't want the SLAMMED BENZ
good luck.

@ MBHustla858. My car is already lowered close to what your was lowered but maybe a little bit higher in the rear. I was told today to get the bilstein HD as someone pointed out. The price was $330.00 or something like that. I really dont want to change springs so may have to go with the bilstein shocks unless other suggest something else. I was also told that WHATEVER I buy and replace the monroes that I would like and feel the difference. THAT was very good news to hear!

I just found these shocks which I think would be perfect for what I want. But I dont think they make it for the c43. At least I cannot find any website that sells them. What do you guys think?
KYB AGX adjustable shocks.
