Someone please enlighten me. Does the C55 exist here in the U.S.? I'm new to the MB world. If so, how many horses does it have? If all my answers lie in these threads, I'm just a lazy *** and don't want to look for them!

yes,
but only a few thounds have been sold from the C55....
here is the Data....
(Found at: http://www.mercedes-benz.com/amg/e/c...nserie_c55.htm)
At the top of the C-Class, the C 55 AMG, despite its unassuming appearance, delivers superior performance, comfort and safety. The AMG-V8 engine already generates maximum torque of 510 Newton metres between 3,000 and 4,300 rpm's. Peak power of 255 kw/347 hp occurs at 5,500 rpm, propelling the C 55 AMG from 0 to 100 kph in 5.5 seconds (5.7 seconds for the estate).
The chassis has been lowered 25 millimetres in comparison to the series C-class. Harder spring and shock-absorber settings, special AMG wheels and large inboard ventilated disc brakes mean a high degree of safety and handling.
The interior, too, underscores the sporty nature of the C 55 AMG. Sport seats feature variable lateral contours, lumbar support and exclusive leather upholstery. Together with the AMG sports steering wheel they lend an exclusive note. The AMG instrument cluster featuring a 300 kph rounds out the picture.

Thanks man! I've never even seen a C55 before. I own a C43 and I heard that there were only 1400 imported to the U.S. Is this true? So the C43 is an even more rare vehicle than the C55? One last question. Is the engine size the only main difference between the two? Thanks for the answers!

hiya,
no problem at all
as far as i know there have been only about 2500-4000 models produced and sold... i have no idea how many went to the US.
As far as i know the C55 has an other suspension, an other brake system and an other "end-pipe" system (no plan how "auspuff" is called in english sorry
)

Official, I don't think that there were ever any C55s sold in the US or Canada.
Mercedes did not sell them from the showroom. However, exotic cars always seem to make their way over the Atlantic, so there may be a few over here.

Someone posted the number of W202 AMG imported and sold in US before.
C55 is the rare one compare to C43 since it is like custom order car..
and here is the Link
However there is no C55 evermade to US...(not officially at least)..
There is one guy from AMGOwnerClub.de has an orange Designo C55 AMG.
Basically he had to buy a brand new C43 AMG and send it back to AMG factory to have convert to C55..
C55 bodykit is exactly the same as C43
According to him even in Germany C55 is not available from the showroom/dealership...
Regardz,
btw. I uploaded the pic of his car..

C55 AMG was a special vehicle from AMG. It was not sold in the U.S..

sorry but wrong.... there have been C55 Models in the Showroom. But the Problem was that the car was so exclusive and so expensive that the Dealer had real problems to get rid of them....

mm...which dealer and where? California is one of the largest MB market in the U.S. (well, mainly because of immigrants from Asia, i guess) If the C55 was sold in the states, it would be in 1999, which that was the time i was browsing for my first car (and when my sis was browsing for her 2000 CLK320). I have never heard anything about the C55 during that time.Originally posted by Capi

Out Of Control!!
that's one freaking ugly color and the inside even uglier combo
it's all about personal preference. I like that color and the two tone interior.

I remember awhile back I went to AMG in costa mesa and they were trying to talk me into doing a C50 AMG.
I wonder if they did any of those conversions.

I remember saw the AMG sign next to the 5 FWY (maybe 405?) before. Never been there but one day I will. :P
The AMG in Costa Mesa is NOT the AMG we know. It is a different firm.

Toni's C55 has an AMG custom tuned suspension, AMG flared fenders, Command, and an MKB exhaust. It's pretty much the sickest 202 in existence. There's one other Designo C55, and it was delivered to Dr. W. Bernhard (or was it his daughter?).Originally posted by Juke-box

There might be other things that I've forgotten, but if you check out the AMGOCE, there are plenty of cool and unique AMGs out in Germany.

I saw the car in real life a while ago and for me it IS one of the best looking 202s I ever saw! The color is GREAT (especially in the sun)...it was a special ordered car...this is 1 out 2 202s (c43s) made in this color.

greetingz,
long time ago, we heared from each other, we had a nice conversation at the Hockenheim - meeting. I hope we see there again next year, or ?? We are also in Spa-Francorchamps, cause Anton rent the Racing court at 22th of March, 08th of August and the 25th of Oktober 2003.
I had the luck to see and hear Antons C55 wich is totaly out of the ordenary. Do you know that his C55 get a nice paint-job right now.......he gets the specially "Maybach Piano paint" (wet look) for sure in designio orange.
Since the Hockenheim we met, he got a front and rearcam with HDD recording system and hooked up his engine to 416 hp. Listen to his sound, amazing this V-8 sound...
Hope to here from you real soon, Happy new year @all
with best regards
Horst from Germany
V8 Sound - I love it:
