will larger mb wheels fit w202's? is it possible to mount 8.5/9.5 x18 inch wheels on these guys without rub or need for rolling?

sounds like airplane
with correct backspacing, tire widths, and tires less than 25" you can run 8.5s front and 9.5s rear with no problems even with a decent drop.

what wheels are you considering?

thanks for replying.

theres a guy in washington dc whos got a set of SWEET sl55 wheels (2005 SL5) theyre the amg 18inch 5 spoke, thinner spokes though, like 2 inches wide per spoke, theyre sweet as hell...

the guy is gonna sell me the set for 450 if i come pick em up... just so happens the 2000 c280 im buyin is in philly just north of this guys place...

so could i just mount 245's in the front and 265's in the rear instead of 255/275? would that help with some rubbing issues. im not planning on dropping it either, im just gonna put the slightly lower springs from the c43 on there maybe like a 3/4 inch drop perhaps less i dont know how much the c43 is dropped from a c280 sport but i know its lower

225/40 and 255/35 would be recommended

You CAN get away with wider rears (i've run 275/30/10) but it's dicey

my current wheels- very similar

My C43 is no lower at all. Being that I currently have the ?luxury? of one of each sitting in my garage, I just measured each one, and my '99 C280 Sport is within a sixteenth of an inch from ground to frame as my '99 C43 - both with stock springs and shocks AFAIK. (C43 measures a bit taller in the front, and the C280 measures a bit taller in the rear, but it's probably just slight variations in my garage floor.)

those tires aren't all that narrow for the sizes- they don't even appear stretched. people run 225s of 9.5s all the time.

i see, would that make the tire look like it tapers in from the rim? or is it gonna look normal? ive never tried to mount smaller tires on a bigger rim before...

98 c43
I have run 255 17's and also 245/35/18s. Alot of it depends on the offset. I had 2 sets of 18's. One set of 18x8.5 and 9.5 et25 and et29. The fronts rubbed. Also ran 18x9 and 18x10's ET44 all around and ran great.
