Resonator Delete on C36

hey fellas i didn't see a resonator delete thread for the c36 so i thought i'd make one, anyway, i'm thinking about yea like the title says, i'm thinking about taking of the resonators, i believe we have two? right? i looked under my car and i saw two, just after the pipes come out the block, then i see a big i believe catalytic convertor? well let me know if i am wrong, i'm juss trippy over the emissions, will this make me not pass smog? please let me know i'm planning on doin this soon, i want a little deeper tone to my car.

thanks fellas

no, those two things are cats not resonators. The resonator is the larger muffler shaped can under the rear seats towards the back of the car. removing the C36 resonator is foolish b/c its 100% free flowing and a fantastic desing. If there is anything you want to replace its the muffler, it is restrictive and you can pick up a few ponies as well as get more sound w/o causing resonance by keeping stock resonator intact.

Dr. c36 i understand wat your saying but i have a few more ?'s wat is the point of the resonator if taking it off would not make a diff.? isn't it ONLY to make the car quieter? also that is a one BIG resonator man

the resonator cleans up the sound. when i modified my old 97 c280 i didnt delete the resonator when i put a remus exhaust on there because it was loud enough as it was, plus it sounded really really good and clean, well worth considering the retainment of the resonator.

yes it is purely for sound, you will gain 0.00000 HP by deleting it and the QUALITY of your exhaust note will drop.

Think of it this way... Muffler controls volume of sound, resonator controls quality of sound.

Keep the stock resonator and build a new muffler section (the muffler just slides right off, its a separate piece from the resonator section. The most restrictive part on our cars is the midpipe (including cats) & the muffler, everything else is very free flowing.

thanks fellas

i won't take the resonator off after all, i don't want to mess up the noise the car makes, it has a very deep growl and its awesome. i know this is off topic, but i filled my tank to three quarters with gas and poured chevron injector cleaner, the next morning i dropped off my two siblings to skool, and my gf to college, my commute to wrk is about 30 miles from hayward to santa clara, i burned a whole quarter tank....anyone know why?

you could have a shop run some codes and if its running rich the computer should tell you. Rich/lean will not throw the CH engine light but the computer will store the code. Its never a bad idea to have a shop run the whole car just to see what the computers are tellin ya. I cost me around $50 and now I know im lean, low idle, and SRS controller bad voltage. Ill fix when I can. Just a piece of mind. annnnnnnnddd Dont forget "stay on the gas"
