Race seats on C36

I'm thinking of getting a pair of Sparco Chrono's or ultra-light Corbeau's for my car. Not a fan of the oem ones and its a good way to drop some weight and add some bling.

Has anyone done this, and what slider/frame set up did you use ?

One of the biggest hurdles is being able to find a way to use the oem seatbelts.

The seatbelt reciever is attached to the seat and I don't want to have to resort to a rollcage/rollbar set up.

Does anyone know if the seatbelt buckle reciever is electrically hooked up to the car ?

I miss the days of the seatbelt reciever being attached to the tranny hull

....Whats the point. Your driving a Mercedes with an auto slushbox and it doesn't quite take the corners to well.... IMO, get a c43 interior.

My C36 w/ just Koni's and only slight lowering w/ # 2 and 3 pads on stock springs already corners better than my S4 w/ an H&R/ Bilstein cup kit does.............stock seats weigh 85 lbs each.........vs 24-27 lbs for Sparco's...thats almost 100lbs weight loss.

I don't really agree that the 4spd is such a slushbox....plus this car has recirculating ball steering, which makes it a great platform for handling.
You know this car raced quite sucessfully in the German Touring Car series.

S4's have R&P with servotronic assist which IMHO makes it numb in comparison.

I track at Lime Rock( PDA ) and I'm almost sure the C36 will yield great lap times .
I've seen my fair share of autotragic equipped cars lap faster than 5/6 speed manny cars w/ equal hp/weight ratios.

Its all in how the car is setup. Not what tranny you have ; )

Funny thing is a majority of the drivers I know on the street can't even heel to toe or rev-match properly., hence them turning in slower times and would probably do better driving an autobox.

The magic # for this car is getting it to 3100 lbs from 3500. Once there it will be pretty impressive and nimble.

Oh , and C43 seats are even heavier.

You can put seats in your car assuming you get the proper rail kit for a W202. The female part of the seat belt will unbolt from your OE seat and bolt onto your new rail. All you need to do at that point is plug it back into the main harness. OE seatbelt will be fully functional.

You may want to see if Porsche GT3 Euro seats will fit. They are very comfortable race buckets and they are quite light as well.

The GT3 seats won't fit a W124 chassis, as the shoulder area is too wide. Given the W202 is smaller, I suspect the same problem, plus, GT3 seats cost a grip. For a daily driver, do you really want a fixed back bucket seat? They are a ***** to get in/out of and not good for sitting in for long periods of time. I ran into this problem with my Sparcos in my Corvette.

Why not look into some leather recaro reclinables. I agree on not having a fixed back as a daily. Corbeaus are not the greatest seats. Pretty uncomfortable. I guess the question is how much do you want to spend on a seat? You can make rails to fit. I made a set of rails out of 1/8 angle iron to fit porsche 944s seats into a vw rabbit.
