Yes I have been looking at this too, its definitely a kompressor Rand maybe a 55 unless someone has just added the super charger onto the 43 engine.

I got excited when I noticed it 2 days ago and was going to bid for it myself but I think it will be a whole load of trouble that someone else has started and not finished! and why does the number plate start with CL? its not from the UK is it?
Seriously I don't trust it as it probably doesn't even run, all the wires are hanging out were the ECU and other electronics are normally located.

Might ring the guy and see what he says,,,,,,,,,,,,,something ain't great here as he doesn't have the car yet but when he does you will have to apply for the V5, whats that about?

I know what you mean.

I think I might call him and arrange to view it before I bid. Best case scenario is it's needs bumbers repainting, a rear door window and like you said, some work on the ECU maybe.

The worst case is - it's a money pit from hell!

I've been searching on the net for W202 C55K's and from what I can gather they did make a few genuine ones that where used as F1 pace cars and special order vehicles.

I think the number plate is from Sri Lanka -

http://www.kingkong.demon.co.uk/where/where.htm

If I can get hold of it's chassis number I could probably verify with MB what it actually is.

Don't seem how. He's insisting on cash on collection.

No ,it did not. It was very similar to my car with the transplanted 5.5L motor except our rear diffs are different.

So this looks like it's had a 5.5ltr Supercharge version of the engine transplanted. I wonder which variation of it??!

I've spoke to the bloke who's selling it (seems genuine) and he is going to call me when he receives the car on Tuesday to give me details of the full condition. This could turn out to be a real bargain!

I'd be very interested how close the drivebelt pulleys (double thickness) come to the radiator and if it still has the viscous fan. I'd also be interested if it uses the MAP sensor or if the MAF has been reloated somewhere (can't see it in the pictures. Otherwise the engine is a direct bolt in as it's still a M113.

Very interesting indeed.......

If it's a Kompressor M113 motor from the 55k cars ,it's not a direct bolt in. The motor mounts and mount castings on the block on those motors are completely different than the ones on the N/A M113 motors unfortunately.

Yes,

He is an Indian sounding man with a strong birmingham accent.

But if you want it I would consider needing to spend a fair amount of money getting it running, let alone doing the body work. It may be just good for parts as if you can't hear it running how do you know the engine or box is not blown!

I will bid on this car only if he says that I can get in the car and drive it

Someone a bit braver than me has bought it for the "buy it now" price of £3750. I would have paid that but needed to see it first.

I think it's a gamble without at least seeing it.

Oh well, I'll keep looking for a C43 then!

The weird thing is that the seller doesn't really even mention the very obvious wild *** motor swap. I'm guessing it is the wrecking yard which is selling it, so maybe they didn't even know what they had??? If it actually works (a longshot I would say) that is an incredible deal

exactly good deals are normally too good to be true and the bidder was 'salapen ( private )' with 1 positive feedback score as I was watching it in my ebay items.

TPWUK who knows what more surprises that car may have had, but we may never know...................... or we may see someone pop up in this forum asking what can they do to fix it?

what about this one, its had a full respray which can't be bad?

There's a good chance the car will resurface again in the near future! Either because it's going to cost too much money to get on the road or because the original seller thinks he's under priced it and will relist once he's taken delivery of it.

Re: the C43.....Ideally, I want something with less than 80,000K miles on it and that one looks a bit grubby to me...look at the tail pipes for example!

I wasn't aware of that, looks like I'll have to take a closer look next time I have 1 of each in the workshop. I'm sure you'd know, you've probably already looked into it considering your level of mods to your W202
