cash in this market if it is in top shape and you have it inspected. Probably needs the trans serviced and front bushings at least with 80k miles.

lots of C43s are under 10k these days, only the best ones get anything over that and 80k isn't the lowest mileage ever, its about avg. Here is example to give you an idea.

If this 80K car has a full service history with Merceders Dealer maintenance, then it would be worth much more then a lower mileage car that hasn't been maintained.
Depending on condition and known history, $10K - $14K....

That c43 on cars.com does look rather rough. Missing plastic piece in moulding etc, paint looks bad. This is a very clean car... hmm

I beg to differ on this point.Remember, the dealer will tell you the tranny has a "lifetime" fill and the spark plugs are good to 100k.

Condition and systematic maintenance history is everything - to the right buyer.
IIRC, there was a C43 that was advertised on MBW a year or two ago that went for very high teens or even low 20s due to mileage and condition.
EDIT: Found the link...car went for $22K.

What don't you understand ?????
If you are going to purchase and own Mercedes then you should have a relationship with a dealer service manager.
Give him/her the VIN and they can run the Mercedes service history...
Find a car that's been dealer serviced or has the paperwork from an indy and it's worth more then one that you have zero background on...
Not rocket science

I think you misunderstood my statement. My statement was to infer that just because it was "serviced" by a $tealership doesn't necessarily imply added value. If you stuck with the "service schedule" that is "recommended" by the factory, you would be paying a premium for a vehicle (from a $tealership) that at 80k still has not - #1) had the tranny "serviced" (lifetime fill) #2) had the plugs changed (100k).Anyone who has owned these vehicles can attest that these are 2 of the most overlooked "services" that aren't performed on our vehicles , yet makes the biggest performance difference after they are performed.

Let's try this..the "service history" that shows when you call up the VIN, does not just indicate scheduled maintenance.
It will show all work done whether under warranty, on recall, or customer requested repair.
For instance call up my C43 ( yes I own one and are familiar with them ) VIN and it will show at 44K miles that the transmission sump gasket was replaced under warranty. Along with the gasket, the transmission was flushed, filter changed and refilled....
See what I'm trying to say ????
You buy your cars your way, I'll buy mine the way I've been buying Mercs for over twenty years..and all five of my cars are pristine with zero "unknown" mechanical problems at time of purchase

You got to get over this "stealership mentality" as it makes you extremely myopic

condition of the car, getting to know the owner, some receipts, yes valuable.
i'm saying this because a "serviced by dealer only" will never come close to a diy enthusiast serviced vehicle.

This is what I posted:
"If this 80K car has a full service history with Merceders Dealer maintenance,"
The operative worods are "full service history"....
The "dealer maintenance" just assures that you have a paper trail to prove what repairs have been made over the years, especially in areas that are chassis specific problems....
The key to getting a top quality car in two plus to one condition is having the FSH.
Best deals are from original owners who are not DIYers and used the vehicle as secondary transportation , hence low mileage and documented service records..
Out of the five Mercs I own, one was my original purchase in 1988, three were one owner ( two of which were low mileage CPO ) and the last ( a two plus condition W113 ) had incomplete service history, but I had it vetted by a Merc dealer prior to purchase.

Awesome.....I hope to keep my MB's that long and in such good working order The thing about these cars is that it almost doesn't make sense to sell one, just pick up another when you have space (or spare cash) and keep the old one because you won't ever recover what you paid or invested in it (maintenance wise) anyway Not to mention that I would feel very comfortable driving either of my cars to 1,000,000 miles as long as the proper maintenance was performed. Such timeless designs, each and every one of them!

if you want best deal you can always buy one at auction even a beat up model fix it up for half price you'd pay for a top condition starmarked one at dealer
now that's what i call best deal. no?
service by dealer is just so overrated no offense, but if you look at their work, you'd understand. they just don't care, pure and simple. they will not take the time to even torque a bolt properly, they are always in a rush behind the curtains like a conveyor belt, no meticulous care taking time to do it right the first time at all.
not to mention 10k oil/filter changes, spark plugs 100k, coolant 4 years, absolutely no preventive maintenance, etc. etc. i could go on.
that's where a diy enthusiast weather be it a bmw, an audi, a corvette, a subaru or whatever, they take better care of maintenance than any dealer would.
anyway, everyone's entitled to their own opinions, just my 2 worthless cents
bottom line is whatever you get enjoy the car and enjoy the drive
