Looking for quality performance parts

Hey guys I'm new to the site and i just bought the most beautiful 1999 Glacier White C43. I'm looking to amp up the performance just a little bit so i was thinking headers, intake, and maybe even a chip. Any suggestions on what brands, or models to look at. I'm looking for very good quality products so if it means sacrificing a little hp for reliability i am okay with it. Any comments are welcome.

By the way anybody know if the new C63 wheels will fit the 99 C43...I am in love with them!!!

the stock intake is a bit of a heat trap and can be improved- however, i wouldn't do anything with it unless you later decide to do more to the car than what you are asking about. DO NOT spend the money on getting a carbon fiber intake.

didn't say i wanted them? the real ones are a bit too wide for the applications of those who were inquiring and i was just trying to point them in the right direction as much as possible.

I'd suggest new plugs and a set of K&N or similar filters. Not a huge boost, but you would be suprised how a good tune up will help.

Also, people have gotten great results from going to high flow cats. There is a good thread on this if you do a search. Personally I'd start with K&N Panel, Chip, Drop the cats and replace a few bends in the exhaust, maybe a pulley and call it good. Much more than that and you are talking $$$$ and lots of time invested.

Those mods should add about 25-30 hp and get you a slight gas mileage improvement.

i tend to be more optimistic. since the chip alone adds 20 hp. i'd say that the list you described would offer more like 35-40 over stock.

dont forget magnecor wires, if someone hasnt mentioned that already

and denso iridium ik16 spark plugs... some people go with ik20, but the denso site recommends 16's. these denso plugs when paired with the magnecor wires will really pep up your motor's response

Yeah, 30-40 may be realistic, but would rather err on the low side. You never know how the mods will respond on each individual car.

You may also think about using some kind of chemical cleaner like seafoam before a plug change to knock loose some carbon. Some people report good effects, others not much.

I'm also considering a possible inexpensive water injection kit for the summer. Since it would allow you to run lower octane gas. It may also make it easier to get the 93 octane chip where 91 is more standard. Plus the side benefits of it will keep the carbon deposits off your engine.

you would be surprised how much build-up there can be inside your combustion chambers. see if you can find someone with a boroscope (camera on the end of a wire) to take a look inside.
