1998 c43
newbie
Im picking up my 98 c43 today with 95k miles on it and im paying 10k for it, body and interior is in great shape, engine sounds good and no accident, I heard the number 1 problem with this car is the tranny and its $$$$$ to get it fixed..can somebody walk me through regarding this car before i pick it...thank you for your input

engine sounds real good..drove it and it pulls hard and shift smooth,tuned up by MBZ dealer, brakes are in good condition i called the MBZ dealership and gave them the VIN and they told me that the car was serviced last month and did inspection and found nothing wrong with the car....does 10k sounds right? check www.bobzands.com its in there the black one...

Check to see if the harmonic balancer was replaced (factory recall-free) and see if the spark plugs have been replaced.Original factory recommendation was to change them at 100k.

You will also want to lubricate the armature on the monowiper.Alot of people don't find out about this until its too late and have to replace the wiper motor. $$$
i was really looking forward to ******* out a c300 loaner.....

just call any reputable MB dealership, not some 3rd party juan and pedros mercedes dealer. a real dealership that has corporate support. they can look up this issue via the vin, just call up, give them the vin, and youre in business if they tell you it needs to be changed out

Call the $tealership...give them the vin# and ask if the recall has been performed.They get paid from the factory to perform the recall,so if it hasn't been done they will do it.Its not like its coming out of their pocket.

thanx for all the input and help before i head down to the dealership and pick up my 1998 C43...im for sure taking this baby home tonight and take a day off tomorrow so i can detail this car and get ready for its long weekend of driving...i will keep all you guys updated...thanx again!!!

it has all the manuals, the actual book leather pouch, and all my buddies bought at least 6 BMW from them and they are pretty good and reliable..the only thing im missing is the original floormats...so what do u guys think of the car?

plans
my plan is to lower it on H&R springs and put a 18in staggered amg monoblock and thats it!!! what do u guys think and give me some idea on my wheel and suspension set-ups...thanx in advance
