Hey guys, selling my C43.

Here's a link to the AutoTrader ad for more details.

Highlights:
Great condition

I know this is higher than others on this forum, but the Seattle market seems a little higher. So we'll see...

Well I hope you can get your money locally. I have a guy close to me with a nice example and he just relists it every couple of weeks a couple hundred bucks lower than the last time.

These cars would sell between 8-9K all day long. And if you know where to look you can find a lot of them.

I'm a big fan of w202 AMG's C43s and C36s... but at that pricepoint it's quite near w210 E55 AMG category with equivalent miles in good shape.
My brother in northern Cali is searching for a nice C43 but that's 4K too much.

I hate saying that these cars are not worth the certain amount of money coz I appreciate them, you cant compare this car to a brand new car and say "this costs to much"

look at their rarity and you'll know that one day they will be worth much more so w\e you pay now is not to much imo

you have to accept the fact that these cars are pretty damn rare, only a true car lover will see these cars for what they are, most of you guys here sound like you just need something to beat on and have fun in

No offense, but who do you think we are? I just sold a mint 16V for what was probably a fair price but far below what would be a collectable price and it was very very nice.

These cars are rare in that they did not build many, but how many people do you think are out looking for these low production cars? Not very many. Not enough to drive up prices. I have been watching Ebay the past couple of months and I actively buy and sell cars so I am doing my homework.

Lastly, no one is going to ignore the economy right now. Why would anyone pay even fair market for one when sellers are lucky to get offers at all?

Bottom line is that if you want top dollar, stick it back in your garage until next year. If you have to sell it, this is a bad time to do it and price it accordingly.

The cars themselves are great, and the OP looks to have one of the better examples.

Understood your point... but be realistic at the present time & economy.
I'm a true lover of w202 AMG's... I wish he could get as much as possible for his real fine C43, but most members here are enthusiasts and knowledgeable on spending ceiling & current marjet value for a clean C43 after all. Just being honest...

Use my AMG as an example vis-à-vis: a 2001 E55 (653 units made) that has 64K miles, documented since new, easy near-mint car in & out, rarer than a 1998 C43 (788 units made), AND purchased this year for $800 more than the C43's asking price. Don't need to be a rocketscientist to figure this one out...

If someone offers $12+K plus for that nice C43, then I'd say go for it... the buyer & seller will likely be happy. But if it was priced at $10K-11K then it's likely to sell alot sooner. Nevertheless, WyattH seems to have a VERY CLEAN C43.

My 2 pennies...

Your 100% correct in all statements. Although, 10-11k is a bit optimistic IMO.

Really? Wow... So the AMG Private Lounge Team's stats are inaccurate? Hmm, I wonder what happened to the remaining US versions...
(btw, thanks again for the mag)

I dunno...I think 10-11k is pretty reasonable given condition/mileage

^ I'm also giving the seller benefit of the doubt since it looks very nice & clean... plus at that 10-11K pricepoint, I would say if someone arrived with $9,500 cash on-hand onsite then take it! All this assuming the description is accurate with no hidden surprises. If I didn't have my E55, I would seriously consider his C43 as one of my top choices.

Cash

talks and even in Seattle with a premium for low miles it is a $9500 car, take it if you can get it,even if the economy perks up it will only be worth even less next year.

Well I would have to say that I have never seen a single C43 other than mine (and it was the first I had ever seen in person when I bought it), yet I have seen probably 2 dozen w210 E55's. Import figures aside, I think w202 AMG's were a little less common than their 210 older brothers. So are you selling? Sounds like a nice E55

Thanks, it's a keeper. Hard to replace something as clean/mint as this for a good price. And you're right, when you add 'em all up there are more w210 E55s out there vs. w202 AMGs combined (roughly 2321 w202 AMG's vs. 3957 w210 E55's). I was looking for a C43 but couldn't find a clean unmolested unabused one down herein South Florida this past spring. But when the E55 pop'd up, I couldn't pass for the deal I got. And I'm very happy at the end of the day - and that's what counts for each one of us. At least we're in the same lineage... the E55's M113 powerhouse was derived straight from the C43's M113 monster!

In theory it would be, but low mileage clean E55's can be had for 15-17k now and the price is still falling. I have seen very clean C43's for 10k and they just sit, seen some higher mileage clean examples for $8500 as well, which is really tempting.

+1 i have seen very few w202 amg's. theres an old guy who lives a couple miles from me who has had a c43 for 8 years now, and i still see him driving it around. other than that ive seen one other c43, black, and lowered... with tint... it looked great.

Sure thing....good luck buying a documented mint w202 AMG for 10g's. You have seen marginal cars go unwanted....which is fine, but I would NEVER sell for less than 15k. Which is why my car will NEVER be for sale, and why good C43's just don't make it to market ever. Sorry everyone, but 8500 just is not going to happen in your wildest dreams for a good quality documented car.

flynavy-

it's nice to think that those cars are worse than all of ours- but everything points otherwise.

it IS the good examples selling for pennies
