LSD for a C43....Almost

Good stuff and interesting. The stck diff seems to be pretty stout so I could imagine how nice the LSD diff from the 190E 16 v would hold up. Again nice work there. This is something I would'nt mind considering doing with my beast.
So to sum things up you r using for the diff itself are:
1.300CE housing (W124)
2.190E 16v LSD
3.gearing from your stck diff (C43 3.07) to convert the (190E 3.27) ratio back to 3.07
4. 190E 16V yoke and flanges
Correct?

piertek... If you were to just get an LSD like the one I purchased, it would just bolt in with the exception to the rear cover which you would have to change. Other than that it would work fine even with the different ratios. It would only alter your rpm depending on if you went higher or lower than your stock diff. Actually if that is a problem I think you would be able to transplant the Lsd into yours so it wouldnt change.
All the parts used are factory nothing out of the ordinary aside from the grinding I had to do to the rear cover and the Axle flanges. Part numbers are listed above. Nothing from my stock differential was used.
ProjectC55...Sort of right
1. 300CE diff. housing W124 with ring and pinion (It had the 3.07, the stock diff. from the C43 had nothing that would fit in the smaller diff
2. 190e 16v LSD internals and axle flanges
3. Slk 320 (170) yoke and rear cover
4. C280 w202 (2000) rear driveshaft and flex disc

I'd also have to chg the rear cover but I could keep my driveshaft and everything else (stck yolk, flanges ,axles or am I way off)?
Or would I still have to chg the flanges, driveshaft and yolk on top of everything else included?

PROJECTC55....Your stock diff. once removed is more or less a paper weight, because NOTHING is used from it along with the rear driveshaft.
You are frankensteining the diff from the 300ce,190e,slk320,and the c280
Sick430...I got a chance to look at CLK430 today and you are going to have to do the exact same thing I did. The rear driveshaft should work but I'm not a 100% more like 85%

Gotcha! Guess my main concern was the gearing. I'd have to find a 300CE diff with the 3.07 gearing and just follow the list you have of replacement parts. You r using the C43 axles, you just chgd the flanges correct? The driveshaft part and diff rear cover,I fully understand.

Here is an illustration with paintshop
As you can see the 190e 16v internals wil not fit in the c43 housing. The 3.07 ratios are the same between c43, 300ce, c220 but thats it. I hope that helps

The LSD from the 190 will only fit in the 300ce diff which also has 3.07 gearing. Same could be said for the C220 diff housing if I choose to go that way. Correct? Is it alot smaller than the C43 diff DAMN! I want you to really beat that thing so that I see how it holds up. Thanx for clearing it up for me.

True Gearhead work!
Maybe it's just me but a job like this shows a true MB fan more so than the guy with a multi car stable. I love the idea of using mis matched OEM parts that already exsist in junkyards. I miss that from my GM 454 days. True definition of hotroding what your doing. Although some of the other forums have mods out the **** they all seem to go by who has the most complete list of a vendor's products and parts. This thing I like to see, not 5 posts a week in the same forum showing someones same old overpriced IC, headers, pulleys,80mmTB, HRE's, etc....nothing new...just writing checks like the next guy...Rant done.
Its nice to see your thinking outside of the box along with some very solid looking work to get things back on topic.
What are your next plans? engine? suspension/drivetrain? Your just about 5psi shy of the baddest W202.

yea this is true mb modding! these are real mods, none of that out of the box shyte.
i have personally tried so hard to make this work in my country about a year ago but i just cant track down a lsd(190e) from a scrap yard locally (New Zealand), so itd need to come in from overseas :-( so i gave up because scrap yards are dodgy enough as it is let alone dealing from another country
i even looked into getting a 300ce diff with that ice road hydrolically lockable diff (asd) but cant get any of those diffs at all!
u may be able to get them in america did you think about one of those?
but as nitro said, you money-one are a legend for it!

jeemu... what are you refering to???
trinitony...It's always good to find another rider in the state. Keep it clean, Keep it simple, and Make it Blindingly FAST!!!!!
NitrogenBalance...I just finished the suspension (KW variant 2). I'm letting the suspension settle before I adjust ride height. Holy S*** what a difference
There has been a thought that is floating around in my head and it sort of looks like this Idea is courtesy of mbenzman and pic too. But im thinking of a full engine swap not just the kompressor. This will be a very tough job but where there is a will there is a way. Any suggestions with tuning and install would be helpfull. PM please

That's why he installed the charger instead.
By the way,it's pretty difficult to find the 190 16v LSD right now. I've been on the hunt.

its not just the spring block, the diff also needs to have machining for the clutch packs between the output gears and carrier. and to make your own just use the stiffest valve springs you can to fit in each corner of the block

Jeez!!!! That is some high RPMs. Can't be good on fuel consumption. Hope you get it worked out soon. Once my engine swap is complete I will be returning to the LSD and do a Quaife.

Hey buddy glad to hear you almost got it worked out.
If the two housings you have are similar in size it more than likely will fit. I think that the housings you got start with the part #124 *** ** ** and probably are not different. This is casted in the side of the diff. housing. If they are not diff. eveything SHOULD be interchangeable. If they are close it still couldnt hurt to take a peak.
