I'am about to change my tranny fluid and I'am a little confused. My dealer say that i can use the MB 236.12 but is'nt that for the new ones?I thougt it should be the MB 236.6 or MB 236.7...

Originally the spec for the 722.6 transmissions was 236.10 (A001 989 21 03), about 6 months ago MB changed the approved fluids for the 722.6. Now the only fluids that are "approved" are the 236.12 (A001 989 45 03) and the newly released 236.14 (A001 989 68 03).
Obviously you can still use the original 236.10 fluid, however if you get your transmission overhauled then I would recommend either of the new fluids be used from new. I'm not a fan of changing fluid types late in the transmissions life though so I would keep using the 236.10 if your transmission is original.
Personally I used the 236.12 fluid since rebuild (it's better at high temperatures) and switched to the 236.14 (it was designed for smoothing out shifts in problem 722.9 transmissions) when I changed the oil and filter after the initial 10,000km.
All 3 of the mentioned oils are compatible with the 722.6 transmissions.
If you're vehicle has the 722.4 transmission then you're fine to use any dextron III transmission oil. I would recommend a good synthetic oil or the 236.10 oil if you drive it hard though.

use the mb spec 722.6 fluid. The 722.9 fluid is backwards compatible but the oe gives better shift quality.
www.autohausaz.co carries it,over 50 bucks free shipping. They also have the filter and gasket kit.
I have the special dipstick,pm me for that and the magnet.
diy on www.mercedesshop.com resource section diy articles.
you don't need a temp gun.If you need help hollar
You have a torque converter drain so order the full amount of liters.
Make sure you check the pan for flatness before you reinstall and torque it properly in star shaped order so you don't warp it.And be sure no linty rags are used and definitely a dust free work Zone.

tip.
don't buy from or go to the dealer for parts.

I have the five gear electronik tranny.. Nag 1??
I have the dip-stick and carsoft so i will plugg in the computer and see the temp in the program. And fill up the oil to correct level.
I think i will go with the new 236.12 spec oil. Maybe change the oil 2 times to get all the old oil out. I talked with some people on some diffrent oil makers and they all say i should go with the 236.12 becaus it's a "Newer" product..
Don't realy know if they know what they are talking about..
But i can't get a straigt answer from my MB dealer and that's annoying me like hell..
