which 18's on a c43

choice #1

Choice#2

Choice#3 (like OEM but bigger)

Choice#4

I think #1 has thinner spokes than #2, even though they almost look the same, and #3 and #4 the #3 are the ones on an E55 and have a lip where #4 doesnt have a lip

personally I wouldn't put any replica wheels on an AMG
I know everyone invested quite a chunk because it's an AMG, but don't try to save buy getting replicas. I'd just wait and save for the real things.
btw i picked #3 in your poll

#1 is the thin spoke and I think it only has size in 17s and 19s. The 18s is multi-piece for that design.

#2 as far as i know this is from the 208 CLK430 99-01 (02 has the thin spoke) and it has only 17s (not sure)

#3 Monoblock which is the one I would go for because it infact has 18s.

#4 is the monoblock for the S/CL class. It has different offset than the C-class.

If the car is Silver, I would say #3
If the car is black, I would say Carlsson 1/6 Diamond

Frank, WOW can we call you Mr. Knowledge!! Thanks for the input. I am looking at getting the 18" Monoblock (#3) So, what should I expect to pay for them and what should I hope to get for my 17"? Also with the 18"s what tire size you guys recommend? 245 40 F and 275 35 R????

BTW the two pics in my SIG the one on the left has 17"s and the one on the right has 18"s

For tire size spec, you can go 225 40 F and 255 35 R if you get 18x8 and 18x9, 31 and 35 offsets. You can come up with other combos, but this setup seems to be most common.

Expect to pay about 2K for the new set, and the old you can sell for $500-1200 depending on the condition.

for 18s, I would go with what Denlasoul said. 225/40 at the front and 255/35 at the rear. That is what MB recommand too.

price wise, I'm not sure how much is the 18" monoblock. You can check out tirerack.com see if they have'em just to check out the price. NEVER buy'em from the dealership.

Moe:

I got a magazine that list many of the W202 Spring/Shock Makers. It's kinda informative, but it's more for finding "leads." The list also has suggested price, but that is never accurate.

Don't you think the 18's weigh more like cinderblocks instead of Monoblocks? LOL

DLS

I agree with Frank, DONT BUY FROM DEALERSHIP!

I never got to pick the wheels up before they went on the car. i figure the 18 cant be much heavier than 17's but what can you do about it anyway. Most rims r pretty heavy unless u go the forged route and then prices get ridiculous. i know unsprung weight can really rob power but i havent noticed any loss. where would i get my hands on that catalog? later, Mono- Moe

Actually, It's a Eurotuner magazine (before the name change, Max Power?). Basically, It's a list of Suspension companies, and what they provide for the W202 with suggested retail price. I can email you the info this weekend (magazine is sitting in my archives).

weights for the 17's

This is what i found for the 17's

AMG Monoblock Cast 17x7.5 27.5 lbs
AMG Monoblock Cast 17x8.5 28.0 lbs

I'd say the 18's would be about 1.5 to 2 lbs more on each
so about 18x8 29.0 lbs and 18x9 29.5 lbs

Thats is kinda on the heavy side.
