The E55 will then become a sweet and distant memory! The transplant into the C43 will be like a revival. You won't even think it's a C43 anymore!! You'll feel like you bought another brandnew car that's a complete joy!!!

If the W202 came with the 5.5L the W210 E55 would have never sold! BMW would have had there hands full as well. The E39 M5 would have been cooked meat especially on the HWY!

After the transplant, do you suffer the limp mode thingy that the guys on the W210 forum complain about?

Don't have any idea of what those guys W210's are suffering from unless it's the defective MAF issue that can make the car feel that it's running in limp mode. (C43 is very similar to the E55 than you think besides the extra's and the obvious size difference). ALL of our cars suffer from that until you exchange the MAF for a new one.

sounds like airplane
I think a supercharger is a better route for you- how much cooler is a custom supercharged car than a car that looks stock under the hood?

Depends on your definition of cool... How much cooler does a custom supercharger look on top of your stock looking 5.4L??

Not the MAF, but the explanation they give is let's say you drive in traffic, the tranny would go into granny mode from all the stop and go. Once it's in granny mode, it would feel as though you're driving an E320, until you do the tranny reset.

I'm kidding, but you could make it up pretty quickly, I'm sure.

Some people like OEM appearing mods just because the car becomes fast as snot and the average guy wouldn't know by looking at it.

You took the words right outta my mouth. The 4.3L motor will never even be able to compare in that case.

Immediate and much more satisfaction with the 5.4L motor and even more when you supercharge the 5.4L compared to the 4.3L even if supercharged.

Transplant motor + labor could cost 3500.00 to 4k

motor = 2500.00 to 4k depending who u buy it from,$1200.00 to 1500.00 to install. Being that you have the motor it will be less than the S/C.

Drive the 5.4L motor N?A first and you'll see what's cool. I barely have thoughts of supercharging but it's nice to have that option with the larger displacement.

Still sounds like the MAF. Both cars are very similar in everyway, both electronically and mechanically.

wow - so one could have a monster for 4/5k or less if they do the work themselves. This is a no-brainer.....

Tks for the info...oh..what is the resale value if any like on the C43 engine?

I don't know what a C43 engine has actually sold for, but I've seen asking prices of 1.5 to 2k. Might be able to pull the heads and cams and sell them to 430 owners.

I have to think about what to do... but a supercharged 5.4L is intresting

But 4.3 L is plenty to supercharge... so we will see...
