Suitable Transmission donor car for my 98' C43?

hello all,

I am curious to know which cars have a suitable transmission for the 1998 C43, am I correct in remembering that this was a 4-speed and the 1999 was a 5-speed?

M113 bellhousing 722.4? is something like an early 90's 400E or E420 going to work?

Hey man no every C43 was a 5 speed the 98 and 99 have the same tranny the 2000 had the tiptronic. If you want there is a guy in Colorado selling one off a 99. he'll let it go for a good price. has 62k miles on it.

In 2000, MB's got touch shift transmissions with the roller bearing rather than the brass bushing (unrelated to the shifter, but a good improvement). "Tiptronic" is owned by Porsche and licensed to other manufacturers, but Mercedes-Benz is not a licensee.

Search for Southern Hotrod within this site. They have done alot of work with the 772...transmisions. You can get a bullet proof one built up from them also.
