what the heck did previous owner do to this car?

wide plastic socket plugs into the amp on bottom part.
if you have hard time seing the pins, unbolt your amp and then attach the plug

one end of the stiff orange loom plugs into cd-changer and the other end into your tapedeck dashboard

if you don't have a cd-changer in your trunk model number is MC3198
there are many sold on ebay

----

here is what they did... sh*#!

my problem is I don't know what to connect and what not, so I'll go to the junkyard and pull the harness, take pictures. buy it and cut it so I have an original plug that I know was undisturbed... or I could just take pictures first. any thoughts?

that loom doesn't look good!
best thing is to source an uncut loom from junkyard and replace with the bad one.
which means you might have to rip out all interior-lining and follow the loom directions.

make good good friends with your MB-junkyard, I pray for you to get sweet deals for your parts you're buying, in the end final when you have fixed your car. keep all receipts you have spent on your project car and calculate how much money you spent, or you can find a cheap donor car and salvage parts?

unbolt the 4 nuts on each side on amp, remove amp, on bottom side amp there's the pins which plugs into the wide black plastic plug.

good luck

YES thanks for the suggestion, I'm keeping record of all expenses (it's OCD yo!). I saw the black plastic plug... just didn't want to plug it in... yes my junkyard connection likes me as they gave me some parts for free already...

I'm pretty sure it wasn't cut, it would be great to get it, but the interior and lining is still there. I climbed up there and was in the car when I got the B-pillar cover. I bet they would charge a lot to get the whole Loom for me, what if I cut it? I'll cut more than I need, they'll probably give it to me free.

I know it sounds crazy to cut it...

i don't think cut looms are any good?
you have to connect all stumps to your existing loom then cover them in protective 3M tape, will take you time and lots of cussing!
maybe it's the easiest way just cutting a long bit of this loom just in case you need some clearence?

if they can put the car down with a forklift and let you dismantle interior yourself, will take you hrs maybe days to remove the desired parts?
