Road Atlanta, yep the BIG DOG - Private Track Day - mid-May??

Been a little while since the last track outing, but am currently exploring a day at Road Atlanta (would be on a Monday), looking at mid-May.

Need a little over 3 dozen to make this viable, due to the significant cost of renting this track. Cost would be around $500pp. We would have the track for the WHOLE DAY and you'd get as much track time as you could stand.

Any interest??

Possibly...Atlanta is not too far from Columbia. Could be a nice little trip

I assume a Snell rated SA2005 helmet will work there?

Put me down as a maybe. Putting in a new suspension later this month, would love to get her onto the track.

Do you know if Road Atlanta allows ride alongs? If I do come, my girlfriend will most likely join me and will probably be interested in riding along for a lap or two.
thanks

Your helmet should be fine. As far as ride-alongs, there may be some surprises in store....I've got you down as a maybe. Your g/f should be able to tag along - I'll have some final approvals on everything once we get the green light.

BTW, what suspension are you putting on?

Nice, thanks!
And Bilstein Sports with HR springs. Most likely #1 pads up front and #2 rears. New bushings too. Then I'll get a front and rear set of HR sway bars sometime next month.

No prob. Check your lower control arm bushings too...on my W208 CLK55 (same basic suspension as yours), mine were shot at 30K miles. I replaced them with polyurethane bushings and have been very happy.

Hi John,

Apples and Oranges. What is the difference....$300 bucks? One night in a D.C. hotel?

Most of us have done the 'lesser' tracks around here, and it's pocket change compared to what RA costs to secure. I think when you consider price tag to rent the track, this will seem a bargain for the significant amount of track time you'll get. We always happen to have some cool surprises at our meets/track days as well.

This is a volunteer effort. An opportunity has presented itself for the HOLY GRAIL of tracks here in the Southeast - where the Petit LeMans is held - to enjoy the best!

Here's the list of sign-ups after the first 24 hours:

Chappy - 2002 CLK55 / Atlanta
rsr911 - 2001 CLK55 / Indiana (woot!)
AMG CE - 2008 CLK63 Black Series / Atlanta

Jeremy - 2003 SLK32 / Atlanta
Soulsearcher - SL600 / Atlanta
John H. - 1999 C230K / Atlanta (MBCA PREZ!!)
Wolfgang - 2005 CL65 Kleemann / Louisiana (tentative)
Mrs. Wolfgang - 2008 S550 / Louisiana (tentative)
McBear - 1988 560SEC AMG / Lexington, KY (woot!)
JGilbert - 2004 E55 / Greenville, SC

HOPE TO SEE YOU THERE TOO!!

Thats awesome. We always lose money on our Monday event, so much we had to cut it from the budget this year

RA does look like a fun track to run, maybe someday I will get my butt down there.

We're looking into the possibility of some instruction for novice drivers, at additional cost.

Not enough interest....

Sad news to report my friends. It looks like our ambitious goals of securing Road Atlanta, as a private event, will be placed on the back burner for now. Thank you for the interest! Another consideration being examined is to move the event later in the year (fall), possibly with some support events over a weekend in the Atlanta area - with more lead time - we may be able to secure the track with a commitment of greater than 40.

Damn, that really sucks. Was looking forward to this! I've been planning on tracking the C36 this summer anyways at the local road course, but Road Atlanta would have been kick ***. The only reason I was a "maybe" was due to the fact that we didn't have a pinned down date and school lets out sometime around early May.

Hopefully we can get the ball rolling again for a later date.

Thanks for your effort and hard work, keep us updated on any future track days!

Hi Paul, thanks for the kind words. As things unfold, I'll make sure to keep the AMG band-of-brothers in the loop!
