Save money on rotors

Apparently VW R32 uses same front rotors as C43. The only dif is they dont have the AMG logo on them. They retail for 80 each at the dealership. Friend told me this, he works as a tech at mb dealership

Can someone else look this up somehow?

interesting. that would be awesome once it's verified. funny how our cars are so old now that our "trick" parts are now stock on a VW. (and yes, i know all about the R32, and i used to own a GTI as well.)

I'm assuming it's the mkV, R32 (2008 model year?). The mkVs went to 5x112 bolt spacing. The old mkIVs still used 5x100.

Rotors

Now if that possibility is true and straight bolt on, that that would be GREAT news I am afraid of what the genuine MB rotors for a C43 cost in Switzerland. Will have to check out with local dealer and report back some time.

I just looked up an article on the 2008 R32 in Motor Trend and they say the front rotors are 13.6". Ours are 13.2". Not looking good so far

Found some technical info regarding the Gen IV R32 and gives the size of front rotors at 334mm
http://www.rsiauto.com/volkswagen/20...-4-r32-358.php
So seemingly the diameters are the same!! Can they fit??

One of the local distributors who my engine builder (I get my parts from him) deals with is Altrom. Check out their site - www2.altrom.com

They are showing a Zimmerman part number, 1K0 615 301 M for 07-09 R32 Golfs. Pull up the parts catalogue for a C43 and they just show the Benz part numbers, 210 421 18 12 and 210 421 19 12. They do list the Zimmerman as a 345x30mm disc.

I've asked my engine builder to look into it a bit more, see if he can find any info. If they are cheap enough, I may just get one to try a test fit onto my car, see if it'll work.

Going back over the posts, I noticed that the C43 uses a 5 x112mm bolt pattern with 334 mm rotors.
The Gen V R32 uses the same 5 x 112mm bolt pattern but have 345 mm rotors.
The Gen IV R32 uses a 5 x110mm bolt pattern with 334mm rotors.
Soooooow unless the Gen IV uses also a 5 x 112mm pattern, I doubt the Gen V 345 mm will fit.

Didn't see the post above which arrived while I was writing mine. Looks like a definitely no go to me, the sizes are all wrong apart from the bolt pattern

It's not just the disc diameter that's different, looks like the mounting bell area of the disc is different too. The 5 lbs weight difference is pretty horrible too, like bolting on a set of cheap and heavy wheels. Plus all the differences in nominal and minimal thickness too, leading to potential issues with the pads? And the bolt size and the differences in the hub - maybe won't line up properly.

Viper, mind if I ask where these specs come from?
