Vibration in engine at take off

It is the transmission mount. Very common. When I get cars in the shop I put them in neutral and rev them up just to check for the up sell. The mount sags as mentioned. You may need engine mounts but if they have not ruptured and leaked the fluid out they are still ok. The trans mount is very easy to replace. Do it first and see if it fixes your problem, which it will. !st time I ever saw this was on a s class about 10 years ago. We all stood around and could not figure out what was going on because the car was in park on the lift and if you raised the rpms to about 17-1800 rpm it would shake the car really bad. S class and C class are the worse about this but they all do it. Harmonics of some kind. The mount is like 60.00.

That is a transmission mount. As far as different options. I think that they are all the same until later years. I do not know if the brand is a good one or not. I have used corteco parts and never had a problem. I normally try and get lemforder if I can.

Here's a transmission I replaced for vibration. It doesn't look that bad just looking at it. There's space under the rubber center.

Here's the same mount with the center removed. You can see the shinny spots where it was resting bottomed out on itself. This is what causes the vibration.

Thanks for sharing the pics, it makes a lot of sense. One question I have is why don't I feel the vibration all of the time??
I am trying to find a Lemforder mount but it seems like it is almost impossible to get one in the U.S. I did find a site but they wanted 60 EURO to deliver a 28 EURO mount

I might just end up with a Meyle mount as I have found those in the U.S.

I just contacted the dealership just to get a quote on a transmission mount to see if it was worth my time to source an aftermarket one. Dealer quoted me $74 ![EEK!](https://mbworld.org/forums/images/smilies/eek.gif)
I found a Meyle mount for $24 and I am waiting on a quote for a Lemforder mount but I believe it will be around $30-$40 so it is definitely worth my time to source one.
Does any one know who the manufacturer of the OEM mount is?

I have an alignment scheduled for 6/8 and I am going to have my indy throw the new tranny mount on while he is under there. He said he would do it for $20 which sounds like a STEAL to me.

Did some research and found the following:
There are 2 part #'s for the tranny mount, 220 240 02 18 and 212 240 04 18
220 240 02 18 = Boge tranny mount
212 240 04 18 = Lemforder tranny mount
These exact mounts are used in the majority of the MB cars and are readily available. The dealership wants $74, I finally located a Lemforder dealer in the U.S and found it for $33 + shipping (I have yet to determine how much shipping is)
The dealer where the mount (as well as a bunch of other goodies for cheap) can be found is BMA autoparts. They didn't have it listed but I emailed them and they said it is available.
I am optimistic that this is the solution to the problem that has plagued me for the past 2 years as the solution fits the symptoms.
Hopefully I will be able to put this thread to rest in the next 2 weeks

You have to email or call them as it is a special request. I am not sure why they don't have it listed but they can get it within 2 days.

UPDATE:
I just bumped my appointment forward and will be dropping my car off tomorrow to have the transmission mount replaced as well as an alignment.
I will pick it up tomorrow and will post the results.
I have my fingers crossed this eliminates the vibration I have been feeling for 2 years

UPDATE:
The new tranny mount did nothing for the vibration![Frown](https://mbworld.org/forums/images/smilies/frown.gif)
Disappointing to say the least...
I am BEYOND frustrated with this vibration
Suspension is NEW
Flex discs are NEW
Tranny mount is NEW
Center support bearing was replaced 2 years ago, still had the vibration after replacement
U joints look good
Motor mounts don't appear to be leaking
Exhaust is not touching anything (this was a suggestion a while ago)
So other suggestions have been fan clutch, motor mounts, transmission.
Like I stated before the motor mounts are not leaking but I still may replace them any ways. Any other suggestions???

I have had it in the dealership to have the tranny flushed and an A and B service but they never mentioned anything about the vibration. It is only noticeable if you punch the throttle from a dead stop, if you are light on the throttle you can't feel it.

So your have a vibration when you punch the throttle? You had mentioned it does it at 1700-2000 rpm range in park and neutral. Is this only when punching the throttle also?
