AMG sillplates
I would like to replace my sill plates and I am toying with the idea of getting the sill plates that light up with the AMG or Mercedes logo but I dont want the blue ones. I am looking for some that light up orange like the rest of the stuff in the car. Has anyone ran across these? I haven't made up my mind if I am going to go with the stock sill plates or the ones that light up, anyone have any experience with them?

Why not buy the simple ones. Simple price, no need for more comnplicatons and lighted up stuff. What do you need it for??

Don't NEED them I was just toying with the idea. I do want new sill plates though as a couple of mine are scuffed up. I figured the stock plates would be about the same as the aftermarket ones so $$ shouldn't play a factor in the choice, although I am guessing that the stock sill plates cost about $100 for the set..... I could be wrong.

installing the illuminated door sills is kind of a ***** to install them, you have to remove lots of stuff, like B pillar panels, rear backseat etc. etc.
but when the finishing result is done, you've got a real cool car!
these aftermarket sills are not so good when it comes to shape as the MB original ones.
these fake aftermarket sills should be attached on the plastic sills with adhesive tape.
this is what it will look like at night!

Blue is the colour used by emergency / rescue staff
. Some time ago in the UK, the Police stations had a blue light above the entrance. Don't know if it is still like that now though. (I try to steer away from these people....)
P.S. Blue is also one of the words used in the name of the rock band
I played with many, many years ago..... "The Blue Period" then it became "The Blues Period". Now I'm talking about the years late 60's early 70's ![Big Grin](https://mbworld.org/forums/images/smilies/biggrin.gif)

sounds like airplane
remind me of the kia commercials running right now where the speaker grills light up when the hamsters rap?
(then again- I can't talk, my trunk lights up with the music quite a bit too)

It wasnt that hard to install. You just have to find the positive wire used by the door jamb switch that activates the interior lights.
The lights should be available in various colours on the net
Personally i would stick with the blue, but the orange would be different
