Talking Sun roof cover repair...

Another little project, reupholstering the sun roof cover. It was sagging pretty bad and was getting that foam crap all over my interior. I was going to cover it in black suede but i'm going to use gray suede because the upholstery shop was closed today. You don't need to remove the entire headliner to do this.

Here's the panel out of the car after removing the backing foam adhesive.

Thats what your sunroof liner looked like AFTER it was cleaned!!! Wow A LOT of dirty hands were molesting your liner.

if you tilt your sunroof and look at it from the outside.
you will see alot of dust and **** collected within 10-12 years of your cars age.
the ventilating covers from the inside looks very dirty on all sunroof cars.
they need cleaning sometimes where you can access the dirt.

Here it is finished and reinstalled. It's a darker gray suede and I painted the vents to match. Do not try this unless you know what you're doing or have an extra set of vents. You'll break them when you take them off or reinstall them. NO MORE SAGGING!

So how'd you remove it? Is it in one of the YouTube videos for W202's?

Do this..

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nb9RK...eature=related

Wait, actually all you need to do is to get a really long flat screwdriver.

You remover the plastic trim, open the sunroof half way, insert the screwdriver on the track, lift it, and pull one side of the roof panel forward.

I'm not good at explaining thing...I just do them

Anyone ever done their entire roof in suede? I am thinking about going from light gray to a very dark gray almost black suede. I read about a guy doing this in his RSX himself and its came out really good. What adhesive should you use?

I did the dash in my old Saab in ultrasuede. Was black, sun faded pretty badly. The photos in the link below make it look purple, but it actually was black to begin with:

I used the 3M spray adhesive. It took a lot of effort to minimize the folds in the fabric when going around curves. I worked on that thing off and on for about two weeks!

Alcantara Dealer in the USA:

Price for headliner fabric is $98 per yard.

4 yard should be enough, from what I have read for our C43's.
