Someone parked a black W202 C55 right next to my black C43 today. All I can say is I wish you were there so I could check the C55 out more in person.

I wish they were there as well because it was most likely re-badged. I believe there were only 45 "AMG SPECIALS" and I find it hard to believe you ran across a real one. It is possible but not plausible

Real ones only exist in europe. If you are i USA, you either saw a converted C43 or a poser

Either way they shouldn't be much different then your car

I know the swap was offered from amg when the c32 came out, it was a 30k upgrade. The car had a few other things changed on it. You can find some info on wikipedia

We have a W202 c55 here in sacramento, speedybenz drives it, he converted his c43

Thing is badass

Seriously??? Where do you think people got the idea to drop a 5.4 in???? Look it up, it was an option only available in europe/uk. I believe it cost about 30,000 pounds at the time and AMG would do it. There is some debate whether there were 30 or 45 made. I am going to contact AMG tomorrow to get the facts but the W202 C55 DOES exist and it WAS made by AMG.

I knew the C55 was rare-but not that rare. Either way- I was impressed to see W202 ///AMG beside my car. It was detailed as clean as mine, and I liked the dropped suspension. It did have "black series" badge but figured it was to go with its black look.

My guess is he is a forum member...Hope you don't mind pics posted of your ride if so. Cell phone pics so bare with it.

The 55 is facing pic and mine is trunk first. I have black C43 and Black ///AMG logo so you really can't see it until your right up on it.

I noticed its brakes were different and the rotors were cross cut/drilled. Would having headlight wipers be a clue to its age? I was thinking 97. The car looked great. I'd still like to see one with a 5.5 Motor convert- better yet, I'd like to drive it.

Thanks for the link of its specs. http://marcusfitzhugh.com/CLK/ states its only 40 HP more? I drove an E55 and I swear it had more pull. Couldn't a chip tweak it to about that?

CLEARLY A MOD.... I find it hard to believe someone would change ANYTHING (tail lights, brakes, etc....) on such a RARE vehicle. The black series badge says it all, this guy obviously built this car. Nice none the less but NOT a true C55.

The C43 only has 27 more horses than a stock 430 engine but as an article I came across said "Although the 4.3-liter V8 is basically the same as that used other Benzes, internal modifications by AMG result in 302horsepower and 302 lb-ft of torque. A near back-to-back comparison with a new CLK430, which has the stock, 275-horsepower version of the same engine, was most enlightening. If the C43 has only 27 more horsepower, they're large horses. There is enormous power immediately, and it never fades. The 5-speed automatic transmission mitigates the power's effect when shifting, helping stability and undoubtedly prolonging tire life. The engine produces a most satisfying, muscular V8 roar." So I'm guessing you feel the same way about the 40 extra hp but at the same time look at the torque as it has 74 ft/lbs more, that's where you get more pull.

That looks like Money-One's car?

https://mbworld.org/forums/c36-amg-c...-you-cant.html

Seems like he is your part of the world. He's running a 55K motor in there now, much quicker than the a '55' swap!

are these 6 piston calipers with the newer SBC system?
when the SBC brake system came it caused a whole lotta trouble for MB cars!

if these are SBC calipers was the SBC disconnected then?

what's the partsnumbers for these calipers and the rotors?

does standard c43 rotors fit these 6 piston calipers?
