What about it makes them think it's going to break soon?

I would try and get some more info before I went and spent big bucks on replacing it. Don't know how they could determine it was going to break soon star diagnosis or not.

22 X3, 21 330e, 97 M3, 97 C36 (sold), but on the hunt for a clean, low-mile C43!
How the hell does an ECU "break"?? I have never heard of this, you might want to have the dealer elaborate a tad.

it cant kickdown if i step on the gas, and just now the temp goes up and down, 40 one sec, the next sec it will go to 80, any solution on both problems? oh yeah, when i switch the mode, with the S appearing, does that mean that it is in sport mode or economical mode? whats wrong with the heart of my life

pheww, it turns out to be the loose cable of the temp gauge, its now working properly now , but still about the ecu, the star diagnose said "faulty dwell angle" if im not mistaken, and it cant kickdown, how can i fix those problems?

Dwell angle is simply the amount of time the points or electronic ignition components are in a closed state to charge the primary side of the ignition coil for firing of the spark plug.. This time is expressed in distributor rotation, hence the degrees.. If I'm not mistaken you don't have a distributor, it should be computer controlled and this might be what they are speaking of when they say your ECU is going to break. You need to get more info from the guys with the star computer, they should be able to tell you what you are asking.

thats some explaining, so whats with the angle? how do i make it "unfaulty" if it can be adjusted through the ecu i guess theyll do it right away, so what will the faulty dwell angle do to my car? reduce its performance? make the engine unstable?

Just replace your wiring and your ECU won't break.

Agreed.... I would start with changing out your plugs and wires, then I would test your coil packs if the problem persists.
