anybody knows anything about this 99 C43 for sale in NJ?

I am tempted to go check it out, looking for a new daily driver and this might be it, looks clean from the pics.

what should I check or look into specifically on this car?

thanks !

I would not buy it

Read the report - it has 'Title' issues - plus it is being sold by a non-MB dealer, usually shady, shady, shady...seems like low mileage for the year and could have had front-end damage

Looks like it has a regular bumper on it, not the AMG bumper BUT the vin number is a C43 Vin. It does say it has MAJOR title issues and with such low miles I would imagine it wasn't driven for a reason. Who can resist driving a C43 unless there is something stopping you from doing so (i.e damage, it being in the shop, etc....) I would pass personally.

I wouldn't rule this car out without looking at it.
1) The mileage reports on either side of the discrepancy are consistent. There was probably an auction where they didn't properly record the mileage.
2) A previous owner probably whacked the front bumper and freaked at the cost of replacing it with an AMG one. Not necessarily a big deal, any body shop should be able to tell you if there is any residual frame damage.

That said, the asking price seems steep, especially considering you are going to have to spring for a new AMG front bumper. Get the car checked out, negotiate a couple of grand off the asking price, and you might be in business.

As for the "non-MB" dealer, who else do you think sells these? Most MB dealers want nothing to do with marketing an 11 year old car.

I live 10 miles away from this place in paterson .n.j. When i purchased my 99 c43 in jan this year I looked at that car, it was hit in front, wheels are bent and the headliner was sagging they wanted $ 12,999 for it! They have had that car at least a year STAY AWAY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Plus title issues can mean anything....usually bad.

I actually almost bought that car last month. Put a deposit down, and later found that the bumper was changed and the car's also an auction car. I backed out of the buy and the guy tried to keep my $500 deposit because he said he had to take the car "off the market" for 7 days. meaning, his ebay auction expired and he didn't relist it. if you're seriously interested, go take a look and make sure nothing else if shady on the car. doesn't even post pics of the engine too, so I'd be a little weary.

Like I said stay away!!! Be patient the right car will come along.Dont let miles scare you as long as you have DOCUMENTATION that the car was serviced regularly.Purchased an 99 obsidian black two/tone C43 in Jan with 136k on it for $7900.The guy wanted $8500.The car was very clean, clean carfax and meticulous maintenance. Also Tranny rebuilt @ 90k.The car is a weekend only vehicle and runs flawlessly. The engine and drivetrain is virtually bulletproof with regular mobil 1 servicing,A/B servicing, Tranny flushes and a keen eye.Be patient and good luck you will be rewarded

little update on this guy... He refused to give my deposit back so I called my credit card company and did a chargeback. Apparently he decided to fight the chargeback and is now trying to get $500 from me for doing nothing other than picking up the phone and answering a few questions about the car. I never even signed any paperwork or anything!! He's also saying he has a non-refundable deposit policy although he never mentioned it nor is it stated anywhere in his auction. Anyone seriously interested in this car or any other car from this guy BEWARE. Again, bumper is not stock, I believe the car's been in an accident and who knows what's going on inside the engine compartment. : (
