OK then, poor man's supercar, but how many modern types can keep up with this 11 or 12 year old veteran?

Nice vid. That show took place here in the Bay Area. In the town of Danville. They have a gathering every month or so called Euro Sunday that while not as many exotics may show, there's always quite a few. Euro Sunday events take place in Sacramento and the greater Bay Area.

22 X3, 21 330e, 97 M3, 97 C36 (sold), but on the hunt for a clean, low-mile C43!
So you paid $6500 for your C43? How many miles did it have when you bought it? and what was its condition? Sorry for all the q's, but I'm looking at two C43s and trying to decide what's a good price. Thanks.

I explained to him I had been watching the car for 3 months and I knew EVERYTHING about the car (I had already got the carfax, knew all the specs, and knew what the car was worth). I took it for a test drive with him and pointed out all the flaws (you could tell there was a vacuum leak due to the valve cover gasket needing to be replaced, needed the tune up, etc....) I then explained that he was about to watch $6,500 cash walk away and I showed him the $$$$, BOOOOOM the deal was sealed. This is pretty much how I have bought all of my cars, come prepared with all of the knowledge as well as the cash in hand. As they say money talks......
Anyways here is the condition the car came in:
107K, the interior is almost mint (I get complements on it ALL the time), it had about 5 SMALL dings on the body that are all smaller than 1/2 the size of a dime (really I didn't even notice them until a couple weeks of owning the car they are so small), It needed a valve cover gasket replaced, and a tune up (plugs, wires, oil change), and I threw on a new MAF just for peace of mind. I had the tranny serviced by MB (never experienced anything that made me think the tranny needed servicing just from all the research I had done the tranny seemed to be the weak link and decided to have it done for peace of mind as well). I have owned it for almost 5 months now and have never had a problem (knock on wood).
IMHO a C43 that is in decent to excellent condition should run you about $6,000 - $12,000 depending on the interior, exterior, mileage, and up keep. You should expect to pay around $7,000 - $9,000 for a good one that it ready to roll today with no problems. Be prepared to drop $9,000 - $12,000 for a real low mile (80k miles or less), really well maintained gem but they are to come by.
I hope this helps......

^Thanks for the info!! That will really help. I'm actually looking at 3 different ones right now, as follows:
- 99 w/ 114K miles, 2 owners, pretty clean exterior other than small ding on rear qtr panel, pretty well-maintained for $6K
- 98 w/ 70K miles (yes, you read right!), also 2 owners, exterior not the best, front quarter panel replaced & painted due to fender/bender, few dings, curbed wheels, driver's seat leather and steering wheels kinda tore up, running ok, but not too well maintained (only a radiator has been replaced, otherwise still all original components) for $7K
- 00 w/ 104K miles, not too many details yet, I have a broker looking into it for me as we speak. Miles are kinda high, esp for a 2000 model yr, but if upkept nicely, willing to dish out as much as $8K for it?

So I found a beautiful 98 C43 w/ only 43K(!) miles on her. 1 owner car, all gaskets recently replaced, tranny flushed, no accidents, but a few very subtle dings on all 4 doors. Also, clean CarFax, but it's missing a couple interior pieces, such as the shifter Benz logo cap and the mirror control knob. I think they're asking a bit too much money at $10,900, but the owner seems flexible. So I think I'm going to make a cash offer for $8K, or is that too much? What do you guys think?

What surprises me is to hear that several interior pieces are missing... How is that possible in a car which has only been driven supposedly only 43k miles?? Something is wrong, or else the previous owner didn't give a s**t and drove the car with no respect. I would look over the car very very carefully or get a pro to do so
