Sprint booster for C43

So I found a product called a "sprint booster" that is supposed to dramatically reduce the throttle lag. Everywhere I have looked I have seen great reviews but looking on their website I can't find one for the C43. They do have them for the W202 (c230, c240, etc....) I have emailed them to find out if they make it for the C43, I can only assume they do but I await their response and will post results once I am contacted. The installation looks like its EASY and all of the ones they have for sale are around $300. This product does not add HP or TQ but makes your car respond quicker. You can select 3 different driving modes (stock, sport, and race) Below is a description of the product that can be found on the website:

Sprint Booster modifies the signal between the accelerator pedal module and the electronic throttle body. This modified signal forces the throttle body to open 'more' than the stock signal at a given pedal position. In effect, the idle-to-full-throttle pedal travel is reduced. This makes your car 'feel' more powerful because a given pedal input produces greater throttle opening. This is especially evident in the low to mid rpm range where most cars spend their time on the street.

Sprint Booster simply modifies the throttle signal between the accelerator pedal and the throttle body. Big deal right? Keep in mind, this is the same concept as the 'throttle pulley' modification on cable based throttle systems - which was very popular in it's time. It doesn't add horsepower, but makes the throttle more sensitive and makes the car 'feel' faster.

It doesn't matter if you have a Sport Mode, ECU software, or 'Chip' on your car, Sprint Booster works independently of other modifications. It simply makes the throttle more sensitive, making the car 'feel' faster.

Is Sprint Booster for everyone? Of course not, no performance product ever is. If you have a track car where you spend most of your time near redline, Sprint Booster is not for you - Sprint Booster benefits are felt in the low to mid pedal travel. Some people don't like the fact that Sprint Booster reaches full throttle before full pedal travel - if you routinely mash the throttle to the floor, Sprint Booster may not be for you.

Sprint Booster is most effective in the low to mid rpm range, which is where most 'street' cars are driven on a daily basis. Yes, you may need to adjust your driving style after installing Sprint Booster - but that is a short learning curve. Sprint Booster will put the 'fun' back into your daily drive.

Sprint Booster is simple but effective - it makes the car more responsive and thus more 'fun'! This is why the product carries a 30-day money back guarantee!!!

Sprint Booster installs in minutes, and is easily removable. Plug-n-Play performance!

You should totally get one so you can think your car is faster and leave the current engine in the car.

Svt Ricco, this just isnt true. When you use our product it is designed to reduce and eliminate throttle lag. The effect remains and isnt something you get use to and goes away. This is why we released a selectable version of our product. At any time you can turn the Sprint booster unit off and return to stock. The difference is night and day.

There is no shortage of current and active discussions about our product. But those who try it generally love it. Those who haven't are suspicious and are critical. We do understand this, and this is why we allow for a 30 day NO B.S. return policy. If you aren't blown away by the difference or just dont think its worth it, you can return it. Its that simple.

Here are recent discussions from all over the internet. Feel free to do a google search as well to find even more. Like we said, those who try it, love it.

looks like we have a sprint booster rep on the forum....

Here is the email they sent me when I asked if they had a sprint booster for the C43:

Thank you for your interest with the Sprint Booster.

Can you confirm that your 1999 C43 AMG has the drive-by-wire throttle system? Does it have an electrical harness to the accelerator pedal module, or is it controlled by cables?

If it is DBW, then the Sprint Booster should work.

Best regards,
Ken

So what happened to this? 503 did you ever get one? I still can't find if it works with our cars or not. I can't even find where you said it says there is one for regular W202

Sure it works with any MB from 96, that has an acceleration sensor in the pedal or front of brake booster (which we have),, i have it in my E60 & previous

C43, just unplug the 6-pins acceleration sensor connector (located front of the brake booster), connect the sprint booster plug to the

accelerator sensor directly, it well immediately work, it has "3" options:

A) Green light = smooth driving with 30% more throttle response (daily use) which i prefered

B) Red light = Aggressive driving with 70% more throttle response (hard racing use)

C) No light = not working (factory use)

I never got one due to the posts I read about it being snake oil but as of late I have had 2 trusted members tell me they have one and it works. I am truly thinking about getting one but I already have a laundry list of mods I need to install first.

I can tell you it does work with our cars and you have 2 options. the regular one and the AMG version. Supposedly the AMG version is less aggressive due to the extra aggression AMG has programed into it. I was told the non AMG version is MUCH more aggressive when put on an AMG vehicle.

One thing I like is the new version has the 3 settings like cm60k posted about.

Gotta love this quote from the website: "Sprint Booster puts an end to your AMG's poor performance once and for all". Just think of all the unfortunate AMG owners who are getting "poor performance"

Yes us poor AMG owners suffering with poor performance ..The link says 2000 and up AMG models. So im taking that this will not be applicable to our 98-99 C43's?..Or since we do have the pedal sensor this will work.Correct me if I am wrong.

It works, trust me. It's not going to make your car gain HP or tq but it helps lag and response

I will be picking up a sprint booster eventually...

Hey Sal,
Looks like you need to modify your signature as it states you have the Renntech CF air box, which you no longer do (ask me how I know )

Snake oil for me. Use you foot for better pedal response and in any case when you floor the accelerator, booster or not, the transmission needs some time to think and order a down shift (or several)

No snake oil. I've had one on my car for years and it still continues to work great. It makes the pedal feel more crisp and responsive when you press it.. its like you've done a mod that increased low end power and response but all it really does is amplify the value going to the tps from the gas pedal. And no, hitting the gas harder doesn't do the same thing. Its hard to explain the difference in feel without actually driving a car with and without one

Amen to this ^ ^ ^ . You'll "feel " faster, BUT won't be any faster at all!!! It does NOT: Repeat DOES NOT increase HP/TQ or anything like that. All it does is affect the travel of the pedal and at times, it can be annoyingly sensitive in traffic etc. Save the money and do some "real " mods!!

True, but I feel that that's exactly the point of the product. I definitely noticed a downgrade in throttle response going from my c36 to the 43. Even in neutral/park (so nothing to do with the trans) it's nice to press the go pedal and the engine revs up, as opposed to doing so a second after you press it. It could make more of a difference on a track, where I'd want to have crisp response and have the engine go when I tell it to go (say, coming out of an apex when there's a short amount of time that you can accelerate before the next braking zone, I'd want to get on the throttle as soon as possible out of the first corner). Whether you could actually shave any time off or not is questionable, but I think I will at least try the product, if for only the better feeling and response. And maybe I or someone else could try some timed runs with and without it and see if there is any sort of difference in a track scenario. (speaking of turning it on and off, there's a switch so you can adjust it or turn it off for traffic)

Reviving an old thread, but I have one of these on my MINI Cooper S, and it's not snake oil. But you may not want it on all the time either, especially if you're sitting in traffic, parking, etc.

In the MINI it installs down to the accelerator pedal and has a switch inside the cabin to easily change between settings. I turn it on when I want crazy responsive driving, and off when I just want a more relaxed drive.

Mashing the throttle is NOT the same as using this device, I can't explain it, but it just feels crisper, more responsive turned on.

My only wish is that they had a custom adjustable version where you could set the % of the throttle amplification.
