This was published by magazines decades ago when 911s first started using 16's. Fuchs (Porsche's wheel manufacturer) are so light that it didn't matter. A 15x7 Fuchs weighs 12 pounds. A 15x8 weighs 14. A 16x7 Fuchs weighs 18 pounds, while the 16x8 weighs 19. On a 911, the added traction was worth the few extra pounds. Besides, the wheel size increase came with the (then new) more powerful 3.0 liter engine. The increased power more than made up for the wheel weight.
Just slapping 20's a <enter car name here> will result in a slower vehicle, that may have more traction.

I liked that article and starts getting you thinking.... My upgrade to 18" will be the max depending on whether I can find some wheels which are the same weight as the AMG II's in 17" or lighter. Perhaps BBS LM's or OZ's

I think you are smart...look at the wheels I just put on my car. Rial Nogaro...same weight as OZ Superleggera. Having owned a set of 19s (albeit heavy reps) I am convinced that 18s are likely the perfect compromise.

Eh, sorry I'm still asleep this morning. Where can I see some pics of your car and the wheels?
Woke up and looked around and found a pic in another thread Those Rials look very nice and looking in the homologation papers, I saw that the wheel in 18" weighs just over 7kg. That IS very light Have to find out regarding the price now

I got them for $99 ea for the rears and $179 ea for the fronts. Tire Rack was running a special. They are really nice looking wheels. I am not a huge fan of faux bolts on wheels, but for the price and the weight I could not resist.

Talk about a deal. That's fantastic. Great job IMO but the cost of shipping over the ocean and taxes would be.... a touch expensive I imagine. Will check how much I can get them locally. Can you give the the size references including ET. Thanks

Rear are 18x9 et30 Frts are 18x8 and I am not sure of the et...sorry. I am sure you're right about the shipping...I bet you can find them on your side of the pond since they are made there.

Hey Jason! How are you doing bro? So, after reading this article, are you contemplating on downgrading to 18"s?

I'm on the fence... I think the 19's look great but the ride is a bit rough. If I could do it all over again I would get 18's. I have been looking around but if I do swap out for 18's it won't be for a while .

Don't get me wrong. Your 19"s look great on your car but the article presents a valid argument though. I'd say keep your 19"s for a while till you get tired of them.

After some research, I have been quoted the price of the Nogaro wheels in Switzerland through the local dealer. Fronts are CHF408 and rears CHF418, which is nearly the same thing in $$ as CHF and $ are close to parity these days. Nearly had a heart attack as you can imagine. Guess I'll shop around and see if I can get a better deal elsewhere, but importing them could be expensive (transport and taxes).
They have some PERFECT wheels for our cars...they seem very German-centric as far as fitments go.
Good Luck!
