Have you tried disconnecting the battery for some time to "kill" the memory?

Just go get it StarRead. I'm sure a local Merc indy will be cheaper than the dealer, but thats the only way to read the codes for anything other than a CEL. Once you know that you can pinpoint whats wrong. There are codes there, you just cant access them with OBDII, only the StarReader

Start by
changing you brake switch.

Have you recently changed your battery or unhooked it?
If so reset the steering wheel angle sensor
then replace the brake switch.

This is such a PITA but with these cars you have to reset the angle sensor or everything goes nuts! This happened to me with my Audi after I replaced a control arm!

IIRC you turn the car on(might be position three before start?) and then w/o driving it at all your turn the wheel right to lock and hold for 10 seconds, then turn the wheel all the way to the left lock and hold for 30 seconds. Do this thrice and you should be set.... If not then search it and see. This was how I did it in my W210 a year ago and I dont quit remember how I did so. Ohlord will know with out a doubt.
