Shims or pads can be purchased through MB dealer. Cheap also (for once...)

So your running just the OEM coils? or H&R's or something?
Without using the topside rubber thing how does the coil seat properly up top? I know the rubber shims form to the coil and create a flat top surface to sit inside the spring perch. Any vibration with coil on metal?

I would look into getting those rubber shims back in there. If you get the smallest spring pad aslo you can shave a little off the top using a belt sander and still have the rubber isolation and flat top surface to fit inside the perch. This route is a pub hair taller than running just coils and still retains the rubber I did this with my OEM coils 4 years ago. #1 pads with a little scuffed off the top dropped it about half as much as my H&R's w/ tallest pads...
