Quote: Rational decisions have been getting in the way of modding . I am looking to buy a house so I am saving $$$$. I am planning on finishing what I started when I get my tax return around April.

I have the Kleemann headers just sitting in the box waiting to be installed, I have yet to have Eurocharged tune my vehicle as I am waiting for the headers to be installed.

I'm sad just thinking about it
Gotta do what you gotta do my friend.

But I definitely am still looking forward to the progress of your car! Keep us posted!

Very cool of you update and share the gains of each mod you are doing to your C43. I'm still debating my self if go with custom kit centrifugal S/C I have laying arround (Powerdyne B11-A oiless) or go with few bolt on mods like yours.

Problem for the S/C mod is the tune, would be needed a remote tune (none here can do that) and not sure what company could make that for me (remote tune only).

I know by purchasing performance parts for a N.A. can be very expensive at the end of the day and won't achieve the same result = power, as going F.I. running a conservative low boost for a stock internal engine (maybe 5-6 PSI max) so not sure if worth for me yet.

Try to get the car dynoed soon with your Rentech airbox, I'm curious to see what are the overall GAINS of that box.

Good luck with you new investment, sure it's the best money spent.

Others have dyno'd with the airbox on and off and have shown 8-10 WHP gains. After putting the box on and off myself I believe those to be true. You definitely notice the power and throttle response as soon as you put the box on.

That's a huge improve for an air box. How much goes one of these air boxes and where can I source them?

Looking at the claims of the performance parts offered , combined with all you have done or about to finish intall, this V8 has some serious hiden HP/TQ values to be unleashed....

Quote: UPDATE:

Look what arrived today in the mail:

This is the OBDII cable from Eurocharged, this cable is used for the remote tune. I am still in the midst of scheduling the dyno so I can remote tune. Jerry said the tune will take an hour (30 minutes to take the stock tune and 30 minutes to reflash) so I am second guessing the back to back dyno as it will cost me another $100 to tie up the dyno for an extra hour. I may just say *UCK it and do it anyway

I will keep you guys posted on the results.
Jason,

From what i see; this Remote cable has "16 pins" with square socket, but our OBD got "38 pins" round socket,,

is your C43 with "16 pins" or "38 pins"....?,

or is there some kind of adapter "16 pins>>>38 pins"....??

ZAYED,,

It is indeed a 16 pin cable with a square socket. Not sure how the rest of the worlds OBDII ports are but here this is the shape of it. Our OBDII ports are under the dash. Look at the top of the cable I took a picture of, it says "OBDII" on it

This should plug right in as I bought one of those ELM327 blue tooth connectors to plug into the OBDII port which had the same shape and pin count and it worked just fine, well I should say it plugged in just fine (the unit was a piece of CRAP)

I am assuming you are talking about this (minus the DB9 connector on the end)

Yes Jason, this is the plug i refer to, Thankss for the pic.,

i thought our C43s pre-98 to early 99, comes with "OBD" not "OBD II"...!!,

also i thought the only models with under dash "OBD II" port is the late "99-00",

is the port in the U.S version comes under the dash....??,,

with my C43, the port comes in the CAN-under the hood, with round "38" socket.....

My euro 98 C43 does come with the round socket under the hood as well, RH side.

In the US, 1996 and newer come with OBDII. In my 98 C43, I have the OBDII connector under the drivers dash, and the 38 pin STAR connector under the hood. My 1995 came with the STAR under the hood, and an OBDIe connector, again under the drivers dash that worked pretty well with OBDII code readers.

UPDATE:

I have scheduled my Eurocharged tune for tomorrow. While I do not plan on doing a dyno run until the temperatures and humidity are similar to my base line run I will do a 40-100 MPH run and post it for comparison.

It's about time that I get this tune done, I only paid for it over 1 year ago

How exciting When's the expected dyno day??

I plan on getting a Eurocharged tune soon too, after I find out what's leaking in my engine bay...

Need temperatures around 83° and humidity around 12% to be similar to my base line dyno. I would expect June to be around those temps.

Stock file has been downloaded by Eurocharged via remote cable. It took 1 hour and 8 minutes to down load. The file is being sent to Jerry at Eurocharged for alteration and then will be uploaded. I will post results tonight.

(just chiming on the confusion as to what kind of connections are available in US spec w202)

My 1994 C280 had OBDII under dash and star port under hood. My 1999 C43 has identical connections in identical locations.

I look forward to hearing results of Eurocharge tune pre and post install. Some before and after dyno numbers would be ideal...

UPDATE:

We ran into some issues uploading the file. There was some confusion as to what pins needed to be jumped to upload the file, unfortunately Jerry was not available at the time to trouble shoot.

I contacted ShawnLong (the only member on this forum who I know of who has done the remote tuning with Eurocharged) and I think I have it figured out now. Jerry is supposed to be back in the office tomorrow so I am hoping to get it up loaded tomorrow.

Hate to bring this post up from the dead, but what ended up happening with the tuning and headers? I was really hoping to see the end result from all this because they are all modifications that I am planning to do, and it would be great to see what kind of power figures we end up with

It seems that 503 has dropped off the radar and I don't know why. He was our favorite white coat tech but he hasn't posted anything since 6 months now. Perhaps like Saab he has turned to the dark side

I truly do hope everything is alright with him, and he just moved on to bigger and better things. I gained a lot of knowledge about this car from reading through his posts.
