12' W204 C63 AMG coupe "T-Rex", 12' W451 Smart Fortwo Pulse (99' W202 C43 AMG sold)
The 63 is too matte for me and the 55 has a better satin finish
. Don't like the 36 though as I feel the shape doesn't go with the matte paint or plastic or whatever it is

I think flat black anything looks cool. I'd paint my kitchen table flat black if I could. Kidding. ![Wink](https://mbworld.org/forums/images/smilies/wink.gif)
Here's a couple shots of my old Saab after I painted it (poorly) with John Deer 'Blitz Black'. The bodykit pieces and bumpers were done with black PlastiDip.

I read in one of your comments that you also have a Volvo?
You have a fetish for swedish cars or what?

Do you have manual stick shift on your SAAB, they really suck you know that don't you?
Poor quality parts on SAAB manual transmissions and a small housing equals junk, there were lots of problems on Turbo cars.
If I remember correct their automatic transmissions were equal bad too?
SAAB could never build a proper transmission before, maybe they are better nowadays??
How many times did you replace your trans and did you have many problems before?
Was that a cheap job to rebuild your trans?

My family had Swedish cars since about 1985 - first an '85 900 9v base model, 3 door hatchback, then an '87 900S 16v 4 door sedan, then an '88 9000 Turbo, then I got my '88 900 Turbo SPG which I really modified, then the rally car came after that. Oh, and I had another '90 900 Turbo SPG which I used as a winter beater, and my parents had an '87 900 Turbo convertible too. Amongst those I must have had 4 or 5 parts cars, various 900s, 9000s and 99s. The '98 Volvo V70 is still in the family, my uncle owns it, and my Dad is aiming to have the 9000 Turbo up and running again soon too.
The old transmission in the 99s/900s were known to crap out with higher power outputs. The original design dated from the late '60s with maybe 100hp on the old 8v motors with carbs, but of course with turbos and whatnot power crept up to 170ish in the '80s and then with tuning you could easily squeeze 250hp or more out of them. By the time I was done with my SPG, I had maybe 280-300hp, and maybe 40hp more with 112 octane leaded race gas.
The trans in my car was specially built in Sweden with reinforced everything, so I never worried about that!
The cases were known to explode if too much power was put through them and the cars were launched hard. The trans I had was built to overcome those issues, with reinforced inner drivers, a custom made diff cover, basically all hand built and 'blueprinted'. It ran one of the tougher cases which only the late 99 Turbos had, and was also a 4-speed. I had tall gears and second gear would run to 120-130kmh. I once ran an autocross course totally in first gear. ![Wink](https://mbworld.org/forums/images/smilies/wink.gif)
The Volvo was objectively speaking, the very best car ever. Carried lots of stuff, always started, always reliable. It's got maybe 260,000km on it now, or more and has had an alternator (under warranty), blower motor recently, driveshafts about a year ago, and we just did the starter yesterday. Tough car! Just not very exciting.

I'm more of a Volvo guy myself! ![rolf](https://mbworld.org/forums/images/smilies/rofl.gif)
I always liked the US version of Volvo 242 Turbo with the US front headlights, such a daem cool design on export cars!
These headlight fronts/grille were very desirable for carthiefs back in the cool 80's, oh yeah I forgot the 80's Volvo 740/760 Turbo's with the same 2 twin shaped headlights on each side with a matte black Turbo grille, such coool looking cars!
I liked Volvo cars from the 80's era, after that the special yellow 850 turbo was cool and nothing else, volvo turns to front wheel drive , yuck!!!!!!!
It's always cool to see them in Hollywood pictures.
Which company build your super transmission?
Was that company located in Trollhattan where the SAAB plant is located?
They still have lots of problems today and the assembly line has been all down and dead for months now!
Swedish government dissed SAAB and gave them a bad rep in the press!
I guess them Moderats don't like auto factories?

It wasn't a company that built the trans, just a guy - Jorgen Eriksson. I believe he lives in Mellerud. He did business as 'ETT' - Erikssons Transmissions Teknik.

this dude is he a specialist on all transmissions even automatics?

Jorgen just does the old Saab stuff, as far as I know. If you do want to try to reach him, shoot me a PM and I will give you his contact info.
