resurrection of the dead m113.980
My new engine arrived at work yesterday. it does not look like much but after a little work (or a lot) it will fit nicely in my C43.
unfortunately I had no car to drive it home, so I have not been able to tear it down yet = (
so now I sit and plan what to do with it ..
At first, I have to fix a good engine stand so you can move it around.
then when the next paycheck comes, I will order new oil pan, both upper and lower. and a new oil pick-up.
then I'll send the engine to a company that can measure the crankshaft, pressure test the heads and check for cracks in the block, and check whats worn and needs replacing. if this had been an old Volvo engine, I had done it myself but now it's a little more money and horsepower on stake =)
maybe I should get the cylinder heads ported and polished?
Is that a bad idea on these engines?
I will post more pictures next week!!
I payed 900$ for it

I was told that it did not run when the oil-pan broke... if it was that you meant..
I have not started the engine yet, but I tempt you with a picture of a car that came straight from the factory today.....
some happy guy or girl will get there C63 soon...

Despite the shoddy exterior and rusty parts, the passages under the water pump look nice and clean, not unless you cleaned them. The oil passages under the cooler look also clean too. What does it look like under the valve covers?

Hello!
here is a little update on my engine..
Its looks really good so far, no dameges or extreme wear..
I am thinking of adding Rotrex supercharger, anyone have any experience of these?
will the engine handle the extra boost?

Hi everyone, here is some more updates..
I have heard that lead blasting is the best to get a good finish on aluminum, If not, I must get my toothbrush and a week of from work and start polishing.
I had to use this to loosen the bolt to the pulley, and two friends got to hold the engine.. i cant explain how hard the bolt was stuck....

I tried with a 3/4" airdriven Bolt machine but nothing..
manpower is the only way!
Its for the A/C filler station, so the wrong people dont use it...

At first I was just going to do a complete rebuild and put it in, but now Im thinking about mounting a Rotrex supercharger and a stand-alone system, and make my own headers and exaust system.
reaching for 400+ whp

Yup! I tried with my 1/2" electric impact, but no effect. I bent the crank pulley holding tool when I finally removed it with the breaker bars and the lengthy extensions.
