Exterior is almost %100 perfect but the interior needs a lot of work. Just replaced my wheel, carpets(big ones in front and back, not mats), and some wooden pieces in the last few weeks.

shop your seats in Deutschland, but they will be costly to ship to US

Look at these E36 M3 vaders redone in alcantara for 700 EURO (they are used with minimal damage but they are also 1/2 the price):

I'm also looking to replace my stock, OEM "tuxedo" seats with something more comfortable and period correct like a pair of Recaros complete with electronics, seat warmers, etc.
Has anyone done something like this? I've searched and haven't seen squat about replacing the seats.

PJ, where'd you replace your wheel at? I'm assuming you mean your steering wheel? My leather is all chewed and I'd like to replace it.

I consider myself very lucky because my seats are in fantastic shape, the leather and stitching have both held up very well over the years and still look terrific. On the other hand, I hated the air-bladder adjustments the moment my *** touched-down. My seats don't leak, but they are very smooth and slippery, which is contradictive to spirited driving.
I've seen some old school Recaro C's and I'd love to get my *** in those seats yet still retain all the functionality of the stockies.
