C43 exhaust
I'm going to get some Kleeman headers for my car and I was wondering if it's okay to run a custom pipe from headers to rear muffler. I would delete both cats but keep stock rear muffler for back pressure. I'll keep the original for smog checks so I can pass, but will I gain anything from it? is it worth it?

if you take all the cats out the car will not run properly, since oxy sensors will not read correctly, your check engine light will go off. you can remove second set of kats and resonator than it should be fine.

The Kleemann headers will eliminate the primary cats, you will need to retain your secondaries or install some high flow cat in place of the secondaries. I am replacing the secondaries with high flows as the stock cats are restrictive.
You will need to extend the o2 sensors if you do not want a CEL.
I am going to install Kleemann headers, to high flow cats, to Y pipe, to AMG muffler
It will add power AND sound like a BEAST! If you wanted to get cute you could add come electric cutouts and have then dump by the drivers side wheel, that would be LOUD!!

Well it's more like your soul and then they want to kick you in the nuts afterwards...
For new Kleemann headers they are around $1800 or so. I was able to get some that were made incorrectly and needed modification for $600. The modification was $400 so I got mine for $1000...
The welds are definitely concerning considering the name Kleemann has in the mod world.
Get a hold of Cory@Kleemann, you might be able to work a deal.

All the cars with OB1 emission system had more power . This was noticed between 95-97 same car same engine, different HP.

There are a couple companies that make headers for the C43 but they are all poop. Kleemann headers are shorty headers and the majority of the other headers are log style. I looked into a company called MKB which makes high end stuff and they do have an exhaust system for the C43 but it is $$$$$$$$$$$$$$$. I think Evosport will make you a set of custom headers but again, $$$$$$$$$$$$$$
Kleemann has the stronghold on the market which is why they can charge $1800.
If it helps the Kleemann headers have been proven to add power (in the 20-40 hp range) so you will gain from installing them but I had a hard time swallowing the $1800 as well so I opted for the ones that needed some modifications. My headers are being swain coated so once everything is said and done I will have a brand new set of swain coated Kleemann headers for $1400, $400 cheaper AND swain coated
Only down side is it takes a while as you need to have them modified and then the swain coating takes 3 weeks + shipping time
