36 vs 43 suspension Q

So trying to save a little bit of dollar here, will springs made for a 95 C36 fit a 98 43?

I know there are discrepancies between earlier and later spring pad designs and the way they seat in the spring perch, but I believe if I use the pads from the 95 they should seat without a problem.
Also the spring calibration will be slightly different due to the different weight and balance of the 43, but I'd imagine it wouldn't really be enough to notice or cause any issues, am I correct?

And the shocks are the same, I already know that.

The front springs are definatly different due to the heavier v8 in the 43.The spring rates in the rear im not sure of.

The V8 is lighter than the V6...

I do not believe the springs will fit as 95 C36 is pre face lift. The springs themselves are different at the top not just the perch, one way you can tell is the pre face lift uses 201 spring pads where the post face lift uses W210 spring pads.

Springs are cheap, $250 and you have a brand new set

Hmm.... What is the M112 block made of? That's interesting. I'm pretty sure the M113 4.3AMG V8 is also lighter than the M104 3.6AMG I6 though. I have curb weight for the 95 C36 as 3549 and 98 C43 as 3448. Other than the engine, I can't imagine what else would be lighter on the 43, as it has more electronics and an extra gear in the trans.

And that's exactly right. That's why I was under the impression that because the W202 spring perches are the same, if you use pre-facelift springs with 201 spring pads, they will sit the same as post facelift springs and 210 spring pads.

But, you do have a good point there. Good, correct springs are indeed cheap

190E 3.0 w/C36 swap pending + C36 AMG
Not all are different. Pulled pads out of my parts car C36, a 96 model and it had the W210 spring pads in it, pulled them out and they straight fit into my 95 C36 with the older W201 style pads. Clearly fit exactly the same no dramas, i put money on it they will fit fine but yea id say itd lift your car if anything, dont know if thats what u want.

Thanks for the input. A actually read vogtland's site yesterday, and they springs for the 94/95 C280/C36, and 96-00 C280,C36,C43. So they are not set any differently for the changes in weight between the trims. They are all the same. It's only a matter of the design of the top of the spring and if it fits the w201 style pad or the w210 style pad

Free suspension for my C43! Woohoo!
