Retune or w211 E55k engine dilemma?
So I have a little dilemma that I need some advice on. Ok so I talk to my master tech and if I do a retune with parts + labor and changing my timing cover (damaged due to pulley that broke) I’m looking at spending $4k and I might have 450 maybe 460 rwhp if I’m lucky but My psi would have to go up to somewhere around 12 or 15 I’m guessing and it would be very unreliable. Option two (which I’m really thinking about doing) is putting in w211 e55k engine + tranny + ECU + touch shift for about $5k maybe $5500 (I have connections as far as parts and cost) I know the w211 engine can put 600 or 650 out at the crank with all mods. I then would sell my engine complete with everything. Keep in mind I’m not buying newer car till 2013 and I’m not selling the C43. What do you guys think?

If you truly think you could get the W211 motor to work and it would only cost $1500 more then the retune I would think it is a no brainer, W211 FTW.

Do you think you'll be able to get the 211 engine control module to work in the 202? What's your hook up? If I could get a 211 E55 drivetrain that cheap I wouldn't even be asking a question about what engine!

Yes, please give us the magic potion solution as that swap would be wicked

My Tech has all ready done this in a C43 for a guy who lives in S.F. He said it's cake and could do it in 2 maybe 3 days which I know he car because he swaped and charged my car in 17 hours straight, and the build took 2 days.

Yes because he has done it before on a C43 and told me that at the end of the day it is a M113 and will work you just need to know how to do it, which he does.

From what I've seen the supercharged 55s can do better then that. The done-up ones put down ~650 wheel. Although it might be tough/impossible to fit true long tubes in the space of the 202. It's also a b!tch to get running right i our cars. From the stats you posted, you'd only gain like, 20rwhp from switching engines. I'd keep your engine, or maybe get a 5.5 then put all the applicable mods you have into that

You already got a beast,, why hesitate with E55K story,, its kinda worth it if you don’t have supercharger,, i think if you keep a supercharger and swap
your Engine to the n/a 5.4 from E/CLK55 with Kleemann Cams & Headres - 82mm TB - 440cc injectors - ECU adapt., your definately get a perfect
results........

I'd like to see this. Its not as easy as you think. I have no idea how everything would only cost $5k either

I wasn't trying to make any false claims

I saw op mentioned "all the mods." I include nitrous in being a mod. I don't know if op would drag his car or not (and therefore probably install nitrous or not), but I was giving him an example of some of the lofty numbers I have seen people in the W211 talking about with their cars.

+1, I'd really like to see this happen and especially at that price. Ask your guy how exactly do you get the 55K ECU to talk to the ESP in the 202? I got the cash right now and I'll pay for the flight and for your guy to fly down here and hook up my car.

well the labor is like 2.5k and the parts are around 3k maybe a little bit more. We would get the parts from wrecked car. He knows a few body shop that just want to get rid of the parts quick, thats why the prices is so cheap. I know a w211 55k engine is at lease 5-6k just for the engine if you buy it anywhere else.

Money-one had the 55K motor running in his C43 BUT last I read he was having misfire among other issues.
Either way I'm sure ALL of us would love an update from Money-one as he is the resident expert on this.
