Hit a Kangaroo

My wife ran into a Kangaroo this AM. No damage to the wife though shaken.
The Roo came off second best (dead). Luckily it was only a small one. Damage at first glance is not tobad with Bumper, grill, dent in bonnet and one driving light gone. Does anyone in Melb Aust know a good repairer, I am with Shannons and should be able to choose the repairer. Thanks

By the looks of it you got off quite lightly and it was a pretty small roo!
Hope they replace it with a genuine bumper and not a cheap knock-off!

Damn, luckily thats all the damage was and no one got hurt. I'm always nervous driving mine around here at night due to the amount of deer we have (and the fact that I don't have full coverage ins.). Our shop is pretty dead today. So I was bored scrolling through the posts and got to be honest, I started laughing when I saw "Hit a kangaroo". I've only lived in the U.S. and Germany though :/ Forgot how many people on here live in Aus.

Around Dusk and Dawn are very dangerous where I live. I try to avoid travelling at that time. I have had a few near misses as well. I think a Deer would do a fair bit more damage, not to many of them around on our roads

Corporate Auto Body. They use Glazurit paint and have a high quality finish.

I have taken cars from Sydney down to his workshop for paint.

Poor kangaroo Did he hop in front of the car or was he just walking? We don't have them here in United S of America. I would hug him and play with him if we did. I'd pet him too. Are they friendly? Would I be able to befriend one? I'm sure there are a55hole kangaroo's out there, but there has to be nice, jolly one's.
I'm glad your wife is okay, but that kangaroo has hopped its last hop

Kangaroos are attracted to headlights and can destroy your car very easily. The small ones damage the front but the big ones damage the front, glass and roof. You only want to see one at a zoo. Never on the freeway.

They hop in front of the cars. They seem to have no road sense and as benzmodz said they are attracted to headlights. They are really not that friendly for petting in the wild. There are some friendly ones that are used to people at the wildlife parks.

Hiting a roo with a glacing blow is bad enough, hitting them straight on can be really painful!

For those not in Australia, it's a bit like hitting a deer or elk, only problem is they can move really fast and you can very easily hit one one in day light on a straight road without seeing it coming but most roo strikes occur at dawn and dusk.

Holy crap. Looks like it just hopped right on it. Not to thread jack or anything, lol. Ausmbtech, are techs there paid on a salary or flat rate? Always wanted to go there and for the hell of it, looked for openings for a master tech at a Ford dealer. Found one in Melbourne and Mandurah, but noticed they were advertised as salary pay vs. flat rate commission like we are here.

I have a brand new bumper cover for your C36. I am guessing it would cost a fortune to ship to Australia.

Thanks but its an insurance job now so will go new.

Pleased you did not tell me this earlier, I was thinking of getting a new one or cleaning up the old one as after 80,000 country KM in Australia you end up with a lot of stone chips and suicidal insect marks on the front of the car. Now this will all be done under insurance.

One of my friends recently hit a kangaroo in his Holden about 2 KMs from where I live, 6 weeks and $14000 to repair. They really can do some damage.

You could be sitting on a fortune. I just spoke to the panel Shop. $2200 for the bumper, about $850 for the driving lamp (one). Overall job is about $7500. I was expecting under half that!

Fedex quoted $3500 USD for the shipping from USA to Melbourne. So that bumper is still cheaper than the shipping.

Wow. I would have never guessed it was that much. I live down the street from a Fed Ex location. I will stop and ask them on my way home.

I just figured it out to be about $1400 US dollars to ship from me to Melbourne.

Got my car back today. Looks awesome. Had a professional detail done as well and few small items cleaned up. Special thanks to Corporate Auto Body for the job they did. Took a little longer than expected but helped arrange service and detail at shops outside as well. If you have an option I suggest you try them out.

Yes, all but $500 excess covered for the accident. I also asked as extras for the car detail to be done. As I said it now looks great. A few small things left to fix like a seat switch and the leaky AC and it will be like new again. I have had the car for over 10 years and 130K KM's and its been great.
