C36 in winter (montreal)
I want to know if I need to buy a block heater to start.
temperature at night can go -20, max -30, and in the morning most of the time it's form -10 to -25
all in Celsius
using block heater for engine is good even in summer.
all first starts are cold starts, with an engine heater you reduce wear.
you have similar temperature in Canada as in Scandinavia, -25 i fuukin' cold when you start the car!
I wish there was a heater for C43

If you do, use it only on dry road conditions
I'm sure kowalski knows what I mean. And with snow the c36 is horrible if you aren't an experience driver I myself drive a w202 c180 in winter much easier.
I had my car sealed with this shiiit, doors, fenders, trunk, hood and underbody, it's all in black wax!
It's pritty costly to do this, but worth it if your car is a keeper.
If you choose gold package they seal everything on your car.
don't forget to check rubber seals ontop your 4 doors, cancer loves to grow there!!

fold your rubber and inspect metal for rust.
best thing is to buy waxoil from MB to treat as a safety from future rust if you don't already have it?
and I promise you, you will eventually have hidden cancer on these doors

;p so is it worth it to seal? I don't use the car in winter, however in summer the car is outside when it rains. no garage

thanx for asking.
if you wanna keep your beloved AMGeeeeeeee, it might be worth for you to treat it with TLC like undercoating.
hopefully your roadsalt isn't fukked up as the salt in mongo Sweden is very corrosive, here almost all Benz cars are dreaded with cancer rot

Dinitrol is one brand, Tectyl is another brand, there are several don't remember them, check shops that sells autoparts and ask them where they can point you the right direction.
you can use turtle rustmaster or turtle rustconversion to get rid of the cancer on your door, then next day paint with rust stop paint, when you get your car repainted tell painter to remove the rust on your door.
however it's pretty cold outside now and painting is not a good idea in cold weather.
you need a heated garage to work so paint can dry.
fold rubber and put a screwdriver in between to lift rubber when you work.
or you can try with an oily rag to rub off the rusty surface if there isn't too big of a damage.
where you going to store your car during winter?
outside is no good, brakes will rust like hell and more likely your underbody will have a beating with more rustspots from wet weather parked on one place for several months and not driving it's no good, can you rent a carport with roof over your head?
did you get a new rear axle fixing your problem?
did you change anything?

I will NEVER ;p use the car when the roads are full of salt. Thanks for the reply Kowalski I'm convised about the need of protecting my car after the respray, why not doing it right
You do use the c43 in winter? how do you get traction lol?
she's getting her beauty sleep and will rise up in April/May.
no winterdriving for my c43.
if you get a heated garage then über gut for you, you can work on your car through winter.

i would store away from all the salt and cold but if you have too drive her yes a heater would be great for the cold mornings
by the way how much is a c36 or c43 in canada just now i have been offered work in canada and thinking of moving over full time should i ship my few toys over or sell ......... got me thinking

Then I would also get a battery heater - generally should be available at any auto parts store. Again, it's something I've got on my winter driven cars too.
rear wheel drive is fun when you wanna play, but could be dangerous if you do something wrong at the wrong place/time.
front or all wheel drive is the best for winter seasons

Being able to turn off ASR makes all the difference or the computers will just cut all the power.
