Need Advise/Help

It seems my electrical is going bad.
When I press and hold the remote key to lock or unlock to bring all windows down or up. It won't work, it will unlock the doors but not lower the windows?
I just installed a brand new battery and still won't work.

Yesterday the drivers window and passenger side window won't work up or down. I have to remove the negative cable from the battery for 20 seconds and that makes both windows work for a couple of days than they stop working again.

I had this problem before with just the passenger side window not working but now both front windows are doing this?

Why does taking off the battery cable make them work??
I replaced all fuses and relays with Oem parts and still have this issue.

Any help is greatly appreciated.

Every time you disconnect the battery, you reset all of the 'smart' systems in the car, which includes the windows, sunroof, and I believe the locks. You can look in your manual for how to reprogram or reset these systems. I don't remember off the top of my head what the process is, but something to the effect of hold the window close button down for 10 seconds, etc. When I disconnected my battery, the ability to press the button and make the windows go down even with the button released was lost. The system eventually relearned it. This may not be your issue, but something to investigate.

Thanks. To reprogram the windows you lower each one a little than raise up and hold for 2-3 seconds. Same with sunroof.

But what I want to know is WHY does the front windows always start to work after a reset of the battery? Than after a day or two they stop working. Than do the reset and they work than after a day or two they stop working, know what I mean?

This problem is making me want to get rid of the car. Electrical problems I do NOT know how to fix. Anything else I can do myself, this is so annoying...

It works when you unhook the battery because you reset everything. As for why it stops working after a few days, I don't know. I'm not very well versed on the electrical side of things. Hopefully one of the techs will be able to chime in.

ZAYED,,
How do I check that and where are they?
Today both of my remotes would not unlock or lock the doors. Batteries on the remote are brand new. So I disconnected the battery for 20 seconds and the car started to read the remotes and both remotes now opens and closes the doors. What is going on?..

eclectic assortment of cars
If memory serves, the comfort relay is in the trunk, underneath the floor carpet. You have to remove the carpet to get at it. But I thought that relay only had to do with the power seats?

And my seats work just fine. Last year I did have problems were the seats didn't want to work, I installed a new relay and not problems after that.

Thanks for the pic zayed. Is that the actual part number for our cars? If not can I install one out of a 1999 c280 you think? Btw, that module I have never replaced so I'm going to do that and see if it works. Thanks guys.

Zayed (and others) I looked for that module you posted zayed and it is not by the battery or any place in the back. I took off the carpet and plastic cover near the rear of the back seats. I also looked under both front seats and did not find that part. Any other suggestion where else it might be?

Do we have one for SURE on our c43's?

I don’t have that Module in my car, but my friend C43 has it in the same place i mentioned before,

It depends of the spec. & model of the car,,

You may had "2" Relays,

One for the (Comfort Relay), #: "001 542 78 19", and the other one for ta (Window & Seat) adjustment #: "002 542 22 19" ,

You have to check how many Relays you have in the Trunk (under the carpet).....

Zayed, that makes much better sense because I donts have that module but do have relays. I have never replaced the comfort relay which is the one you wrote 001 542 78 19. I did a search and the round pins tell me that I did not replace that one. Now I just have to find it. I did replace the second relay you wrote which is under the plastic in the trunk (after removing the carpet the lactic cover is there...). So once I find the comfort relay and replace I will update stating if it fixed it or not.

Btw, a Mercedes mechanic told me that I HAVE to get the module that I had replaced on the door itself reprogrammed. He said that is why it works for a while after I disconnect the battery. After a while the computer miss reads it and shuts down.... Can that be the reason too?

I don’t think so,, it could be...?!!?

I prefer to replacing the "2" Relays in the same time, and spray a contact cleaner to the circuit & brush it with a soft brush, it may help either....

ZAYED,,
