My poor c43/c55 is only worth a lot to me...

My ride didn't sell, although my ad really sucked. I was surprised at the lack of activity, but I think I get it, a highly modded car with crappy pics and errors in the text of the ad. Anyways at least I get to keep it!! Has anyone prepped their c43 for track? Like stripped it down, tool cage etc? The traction control and AT kinda let it down for this purpose.....it's going with me to the beach right now

I'm not gonna lie, your car caught my eye. But a combination of the non-2-tone interior, you on the West Coast, and the lack of flattering photos (I'm talking quality), turned me off. Also, I really shouldn't have another w202 around...it's detrimental to my wallet.

I'm just worried about the tranny failing anyhow even after transmission service, which happened to me on both C43s. It seems all '98 C43s had the same problem unless yours was already replaced by previous owner. After tranny change, I've put on over 200K miles with no problem.

So far so good with mine(98). 130k miles and no failure to date. So I don't think all 98's get affected.

Agree--I know any powerful car with an AT has the potential to fail at any time---but Im pretty sure theres no 100% failure AT rate or even close for the 98 c43. After posting my car for sale --which has actually been a rather comedic experience in the bad way : ) ---everyone kept saying about the tranny to where I got all paranoid, keeping the music down and my ear bent trying to listen for any weird sounds. But there is none, no slips, no sounds, its actually quite smooth and does the job with the pedal buried. I know it could explode tomorrow out of the blue, it also could not. So Im gonna go with 'I got a good tranny' . Im trying to go take her to a open track day at sonoma---yea my lady ran our A3 into the 911 front end I have sitting in the garage and blamed it on the c43 being in there : )

every potential buyer tries to stiff you by dropping the price, that's why they BS you about possible tranny problems.
if you had it serviced properly it's good for long time.

don't thrash the car until you get proper working temperature then drive it like a carthief.
this way trans will last longer.

I agree 100%. Proper regular maintenance of my tranny has served me well and it is smooth as butter with the torquey 5.4l motor to this day!

Here's a C43 that has a recent rebuilt transmission at 138K + miles for sale for $6,200. Let's just say MB screwed up on this one and I am still bitter about having to fork out the cost for new trannys for 2 C43s right after warranty ended on both. Otherwise, after that 1 has 237K miles and the other has 160Kmiles after changing the trannys at 75K and 101K miles, respectively.

Im trying to buy that car, I drove it, runs faaaast with rebuilt r129 sl600 components for better shifting with 2 year warranty on the tranny. Guy asking $6200, but has previous fender bender on the right front that I'm probably going to put some more money into it, if I offer $5500is that fine? V8 AMG, my 1st AMG ever and with a rebuilt tranny, any thoughts before I go through with it?

Tony, Have you checked out the MY 2000 C43 in Ramona? It's also on craigslist? How's the interior of the 99 with new tranny? For $5500, it's a good deal. You're basically buying a C43 for less that $3000.

I actually had some emails w/ you and was interested, but in the end I decided to spend more and get a well sorted 2006 C55.

Maybe it was meant for you to keep it. , but the lack of good pics did not help your cause.

What a motor though !

Interior seems 8/10, moonroof liner needs fixing or new one, has A/M radio, though I have 2 OEM stock radios I should be good on that, only con is it needs some minor body work in front, luckily for me, I work at mb shop so my co workers gonna make it a project. But other than that, clean title, clean car for 13 year old car and fast car and Tranny is superb
