C43 OE exhaust with dimensions

So, I'm getting ready to replace my secondary decat and resonator delete with the OE exhaust, so that I can get "T Rex" ready for the new technical test scheduled on June 11.

I've cleaned all the flanges and got all the necessary new gaskets, nuts and bolts, to reassemble the exhaust on the vehicle. Doing this preparation, I measured the external diameter of the tubes going in and coming out of the central resonator box:
Resonator entry: 60mm
Resonator exit: 69mm
I'll let you do the conversion from mm to inches, but it should be aprox 2 1/2" and 3".

Kowalski also asked questions regarding the number of flanges on the OE system, so here are some pictures which are better than words.

Thanks for your time and effort buddy.
Now I can get the parts I need.

If I remove centre silencer and keep the 2ndary cats do I only need to get 2 pcs of 60mm flanges, is this correct?
69mm pipe behind centre silencer only uses a clamp, no modification with flanges needed?
Is this correct?

If I remove centre silencer and both 2ndary cats?
I assume I only need 2 pcs of 60mm flanges if I don't clamp the replacement pipes?

Thanks

After months forgetting that I had promised to get some figures posted, I finally got a scale into my workshop today and weighed the secondary cats and resonator as can be seen on the photos above.

All of it is 18.6 kg or around 41 lbs if I'm reading correctly my conversion pad. That's some nice weight removed

could you please check how much the resonator weighs?
thanx

my package (box + soundtube) had a weight of 4.9kg according to address slip
box might have weight approx 600grams - 1kg and the sound tube approx 4kg?

Kowalski you always have more questions...
I will need to dismantle everything as the cats and resonator are screwed together with new joints, so I'm not very hot in doing this. If the joints split without any problem then I'll separate the resonator.

i don't want you to hurt yourself getting a hernia or something else.
i appreciate your effort for the other things.

If you can wait I have the exhaust off and the wieghts of all parts recorded, but im on on the other side of the planet until next week!

I think the stock c43 system was fairly lite overall, if i recall somewhere around 37kg excluding headers, I think e46 m3 is 44kg.

That's how we learn from each other by being nozy.
i'm just being curious what the resonator weighs as I added a few stuff to my car last year increasing the total weight.
soundtube weighs approx 4kg, it's a give n take situation with the resonator delete.
recently got my self a fire extinguisher which I will install next year, that will add some more weight, rear power blind modification was heavy too!
I hope I get better traction on rear wheels with this unwanted extra weight?

Dennis,
The C43 exhaust weights I have are:

Rear Muffler - 11.1Kg
Resonator/centre muffler - 8.3Kg
Front right pipe,2x cats upto the header + o2 sensor - 8.15Kg
Front left pipe,2x cats upto header + o2 sensor -10Kg

Total 37.55Kg(excludes nuts and bolts)

I am using digital bathroom scales for this, I have checked them with a known 20kg weight and they are within 50 grams, so I'm assuming there accurate enough for this sort of thing =).

Cheers,
Paul

thanks for the info Pagz, i apprechiate you took the time and effort doing this for me.

centre muffler was 8.3kg, replacement pipe was approx 4kg.
with my new stuff added having some extra weight, koni shox which are heavier than stock, rear power blind, 18 inch Brabus rims, US style cd-changer case, chrome gearknob, aluminum sport pedals, heavy rustproof undercoating, my car is now way chunkier!

we'll maybe it's time to source a 5.4 litre engine for extra power?

Sorry to revive this, but has anyone successfully bought a y pipe collector to reduce from the cats to the rear of the car? Found a certain brand?

Show that picture to a shop and have them fabricate one. Just make sure the bends are smooth.

Does the Magnaflow have the proper spacing between the two inlets to match our system, right inlet/outlet diameter? Was looking at this as well, but not sure the inlet spacing is wide enough.

why don't you shoot dat seller a message asking for economy shipping to US?
german shipping with DHL is very cheap within europe, can't be much more expensive shipping to US.
you might have to pay customs, if you ask seller nicely he can drop the value on customs form.

i have this soundtube on my car, car sounds a lot better with it

I may replace my resonator and secondary cats pipe system with one of those OE look pipes, empty the secondary cats and put everything back together again.

That way I wouldn't have to go through the hassle of replacing the stock exhaust system when I go to the technical inspection every two years and after replacing with the special system. With the OE look pipe, I'm sure the inspectors would pass over this no problem.

I actually just ordered one of these, came to ~$350 shipped to the states. I don't have any shipping information yet though, so not sure how long it will take to get to me.

my car sounds awesome with this tube, helluva lot better than stock.
you'll be happy with it.
total came out to $350 including shipping?
that's cheap man.

i wonder why americans are afraid to order stuff from europe?
is it coz of the total cost including customs?
you're spoiled with cheap price tags in the US, it's a total different price mentality in europe, everything costs more here.
