exhaust tune?

I dunno if this question has been asked before?
as I couldn't find any input for C43.

I took my car to my mechanic for resonator and rear cats delete.
I haven't got it back yet, still waiting.
is it good on N/A engines not having exhaust restrictions, meaning it's more of free flow with a straight pipe welded onto the exhaust?
besides the weight drop of approximate 25kg and the great growl coming out of the tubes like the MGM lion yawning.
are there any bad sideeffects with this modification?
do we lose low/mid/high rpm torque, or does fuel consumption increase?

reading on w203 C32 AMG forum, guys over there say, resonator and 2ndary cat delete is a great mod for supercharged engines.
is it the same for N/A engines?
yes or no?

25kg in weight drop by removing secondary cats and resonator? Is that accurate? That would be awesome!

I can say that the cats alone are pretty heavy as I recently had mine removed. Each cat weighs 6.5 lbs. and the resonator is fairly large compared to the cats so I'd assume that number sounds very accurate.

each cat weight is 6.5lbs.
would that be 14.3kg for each cat?
removal of 28.6kg for cats only, then resonator also being removed, must be more than 30kg's removed from the car?

Sound sore realistic... would be less than 3kg a cat and the pipe you need to insert instead has also a little weight.

The resonator weighs around 14 lbs or about 6 kg.

there should be no drawbacks for you naturally aspirated engine. (power-wise)

whew, ok, so more like 10kg? sounds more accurate but I was hoping to drop 55lbs

anyway, back to the original question. I'm curious for answers, too

The resonator and secondary cat delete will not negatively impact power or torque. If it has any impact at all, it will increase exhaust velocity at higher RPMs and perhaps move the torque peak up a few RPM and give you a pony or two up top. It is a weight removal and sound increase modification. You also will probably not find an easier (and more aurally pleasurable) modification for dropping 20 pounds (9 kg or so) off of the car, so I would urge to go for it.

The secondary and resonator deletes seems to improve the breathing of the engine, specially if you also install some high flow air filters. I don't think power is increased except a pony or two but not more than that. For those who want to know the weight saving, the cats and resonator are heavy. As I will be switching my OE exhaust back to the SS bypass system I will definitely take my bathroom scale to get some figures registered and I'll post the details on the forum. You may have to wait as I'm out of my home region till the end of the week.
