C36 Wiring Harness

To All,
I need you help & advice. I just pick up a 1995 C36 in great shape with 99,000 kms on the clock. But unfortunitly the wiring harness is crumbling to dust before my eyes. I realize that this was a common problem for this year. So onto my problem.
I check with the dealer here & they gave me two P/N that can be used 2025400332 which is a 5 pole harness & 2025400132 which is a 6 pole harness. Unfortunitly both are no longer available in Canada. So my questions are as follows:
1) Whats the difference between these two harnesses?
2) Does any one know if the harnesses are available in the USA?
3) Are there any other harnesses that I can use.
4) Can anyone recommend someone that rebuilds these harnesses.

Thanks in advance for all of your help.

I also have a 95' C36, I had a new harness installed at the dealership last year because it got so bad the car would intermittently stop then not turn on. I remember there being (2-3) left in Germany for the 95' last year, but I do believe some places in the US might have some stock. It's a very rare harness for our model so I would get right on it. I would be glad to get you the part# if you have not got it yet, let me know and I am almost positive it's the one ending 0332. Many sellers on eBay say a C280 is compatible, but my mechanic told me there is definitely a difference and not to go this route because it's a waste of time. It set me back about $1,580 for the part, not cheap but very necessary. Also be careful with the rebuild! Best of luck w/ this I know it sucks. One of the only things that is generally guaranteed to go wrong to due the materials used on the original harness. Congrats on your purchase, you will be good to go for a long time after this gets replaced!!

RPB, If you could confirm the P/N that would be great.

It is part# 2025400332 on my MB invoice. This is the one you will need for a 95' w/ ASR, so just make sure of that. I know you're up in Canada and think ASR was an option on the Euro models. Best of luck!

Post some pics of the car when you get a min.

Cheers.

I have a good harness off my 1994 C280 (with no ASR) I'm willing to let go on the cheap, if that helps.

Don't know about the provisions for ASR, but getting a C280 harness w/ASR should be just about good enough. I recall my 95 C36 had the p/n for a 280 harness, and at one of it's visits to the shop my tech said he saw that, and spliced in something to control the fan speed, which is all that was missing iirc.

RPB, Thanks for the info. That confirms the correct P/N, 2025400332.
The other P/N the dealer gave my might been a later revised harness.

Salaco, I have ASR on is car, so I do not believe that harness would work.
Thanks for the offer though.

I'll have to look into a harness from a C280 with ASR thought. I dought the dealer will be of any help.

Thanks, I would highly recommend going w/ the correct part#. Do not waste your time with the C280 harness that requires modification. Your car deserves the right part, not the cheaper of the two. There is a reason they have different part #'s. Best of luck!
